A 51-year-old Endeavour Hills man has been charged with murder after Monique Lezsak died after a stabbing and a 10-year-old girl was injured at a home in Melbourne’s south-east on Tuesday.
The man, who knew Lezsak, is currently in hospital under police guard after he was also found with serious injuries after the stabbing in Endeavour Hills.
Police said Lezsak, 39, was found dead after an alleged altercation with a man at 7.30am in Kassan Gardens.
Lezsak’s 10-year-old daughter was hailed as a hero after she was cut on the arm trying to save her mother, according to Lezsak’s friends who paid tribute to the professional bodybuilder.
“[She was] the most amazing mother and kindest-hearted human on the planet,” friend Jacqueline Schwarcz said on Wednesday.
The man was also charged with recklessly causing injury.
He is due to have his case called at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later on Saturday.
