A MAN has died after he was pulled from a river in Ayrshire.
Rescue crews were scrambled last night as reports came in about the man in the River Irvine.
They received the call around 8:40pm when he was spotted in the water near Marress Road.
Emergency workers pulled the man from the river once they arrived.
He was raced to Crosshouse Hospital after the rescue.
Tragically, he died shortly after.
Cops have said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
A report is due to be made to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a man in the River Irvine near to Marress Road in Irvine shortly after 8.40pm on Wednesday, 14 June.
“The 49-year-old was rescued from the water and taken to Crosshouse Hospital.

"He was pronounced dead a short time later.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
