A MAN has been gunned down in a posh London high street as cops have arrested a suspect for the deadly attack.
The unnamed victim, believed to have been in his 20s, died from his wounds after being shot on Kensington High Street in the early hours of this morning.
Cops rushed to the scene and provided emergency first aid until ambulance crews arrived, but they were unable to save him.
He was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead just three and a half hours later.
A statement from the Met confirmed that his family had been informed and that a murder investigation was underway.
They also revealed that a 29-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody.
A post-mortem has been arranged for the coming days to determine the exact cause of death.
The death has sparked a number of rumours online about the identity of the victim.

Some reports suggest he may have been a rapper well-known on the London grime scene.
The upmarket area of Kensington, as well as neighbouring Chelsea, is a favourite with the mega-rich and various celebs.
Cameron Mackie, who has lived in the area for six months, told MyLondon: "I wasn’t here last night so I don’t know what happened but it’s very unusual and shocking. It doesn’t matter where you live I suppose it can happen anywhere."
News of the murder comes amid a wave of violent crime that has swept the capital in recent months.
The recent Notting Hill Carnival, for example, saw a spate of violence, including a 21-year-old man being stabbed to death.
