  • The Marine Corps fighter pilot said the process only took him about ten minutes

This real life Top Gun pilot has decided to take his love of the United States to a whole new level by tanning the stars and stripes on his chest.

While some may have been content with the usual festivities on July 4th, one man took his Independence Day celebrations to the extreme.

Joshua Falgoust, 34, a Marine Corps fighter pilot, achieved the unbelievable look with a roll of tape, which he used to create the design on his chest, and some rather strong UV rays.

Falgoust said design only took him about ten minutes as he enjoyed the Independence Day festivities at Pacific Beach in San Diego, California.

Just like Top Gun, the real life Maverick is based at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, which was the filming location for the cult movies.

Falgoust admitted that his antics may have been fueled by some celebratory beverages, the look won acclaim from across the internet.

Falgoust said the real work came when he then had to bake in the sun for two and a half hours in order for the patriotic pattern to fully transfer onto his skin.

If burning the American flag into your skin wasn’t patriotic enough, Falgoust even had the stars and stripes swim shorts to match.

The July 4th reveler was pictured by his friends enjoying the festivities, drawing praise from across the internet.

Falgoust, from Colorado, said of the stunt on July 4: ‘Too many drinks to count were offered after I burned the flag onto my chest.

‘I got lots of high fives and lots of cheers,’ he added.

‘I walked into the entryway facing the crowd and took my shirt off. Near instantaneously the crowd was cheering.

‘I started swinging my shirt over my head playing into it, and they got even louder.’
