My estate agent made ridiculous demand after a routine property inspection – everyone's saying the same thing | The Sun

A TENANT was left stunned after an estate agent made an outrageous demand after a routine flat inspection.

The anonymous renter shared an email she had received from the property owner's agent demanding that "the bed needs to be made".

An image of the email was uploaded to Reddit with the caption, "I had an inspection of my flat today. The real estate agent told me to make my bed."

The 'petty' email reads: "Good Afternoon.

"Further to today's routine inspection, please note that there are a few things which need to be attended to.

"This includes: *the beds need to be made."

One revealed: "I was told it was inappropriate for my husband to be asleep in bed during an inspection when they knew he worked night shift and the inspection was at 9am."

Another said: "Last year I forgot I had an inspection at 9am and it was my first day off uni/work in two weeks.

"I woke up to the REA standing over me in bed who then proceeded to lecture me about some dishes in the sink."

The renter later added to the post, explaining that some of the demands had been reasonable as they had not been at the property for some time.

They said: "There were a couple of reasonable things on their list. I haven't been home for 4 weeks so they were expected.

"I told them I will not make my bed and they shouldn't have suggested that I do."

In Canada, a property dispute came to a head in Small Claims Court when a tenant accused their landlord of wrongfully evicting them for putting on the heating.

As a result of being kicked out, tenant Margaret Jo-Ann Ferriman was seeking £3,000 in damages from her landlord, Carol Ann Pearson.

The tribunal heard that Ferriman moved into the Pearson home on November 1 2021 where she began renting a room.

A contract was signed before Ferriman moved in but the agreement was not submitted to the court as evidence.

However, Pearson claimed the contract included a term limiting how much heat tenants could use.

Ferriman said five days later Pearson told her the "living arrangement was not working".

In addition, she also provided a written letter that noted the excessive heat usage.

On November 9, Pearson gave her tenant another six-week notice to move out by December 30, 2021.

However, as the heat usage went on, Pearson also claimed Ferriman was leaving the lights on excessively.

A few days later, the two women got into a heated altercation.
