A ROTTING body found under a couch may have been there for weeks and was so decomposed it couldn't be identified, cops say.
Police made the discovery on June 29 after they were called to an apartment for reports of a foul odor.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene where the man was officially pronounced dead.
The man reportedly had suffered trauma to his back, cops said.
Law enforcement officials told the New York Post that the death is being investigated as a homicide.
“The body was so badly decomposed they don’t know who it is,” a police source told the outlet.
