Wright mentioned she only turned away from her son’s gaze because she saw two orangutans in the exhibit on top of each other.
‘The orangutans were humping each other,’ she said.
While waiting for an employee to grab the bottle, she started recording the orangutan’s reaction to the object which left spectators amazed.
The video showed the orangutan’s determination to get the bottle out of the pond as zoo-goers watched, laughed and clapped in the background.
The animal originally attempted to snatch the bottle with its long hairy arms before rushing to grab the cardboard.
After the successful attempt, it also appeared to enjoy the apple juice that was filled in the bottle.
The one-year-old didn’t seem to mind sharing his juice and was clapping with everyone else, Wright said.

Wright called the zoo to check up on the orangutan days later. Employees told her the animal had to be monitored for a few days because it drank the apple juice.
‘They had to put the orangutan in observation, and she’s doing amazing,’ Wright said. confirmed. ‘She wasn’t sick or anything, but it’s just their protocol, because she got a hold of something foreign that wasn’t part of her diet.’
TikToks were in disbelief at how the orangutan reacted to the bottle and praised its reaction.
‘That orangutan is officially more resourceful than I am,’ one person wrote.
‘Orangutans are easily some of the smartest animals out there,’ another added. ‘They deserve to keep that bottle after that work.’
