ANGRY residents of an idyllic cobbled street say their street has been ruined by an ugly 6ft fence that blocks out the light.
Councillors have approved planning permission for what locals have dubbed a "nightmare eyesore" to run down Bond Street in Prescot, Merseyside.
All residents objected to the huge fence which they say makes their beloved street "dark-high and dreary".
But Knowsley Council have rubber-stamped planning permission which means the wall, which was put up by a neighbouring nursery, can stay.
And the nursery has insisted the fence was needed to secure the private car park from fly-tipping – stopping their own staff from using the areas.
But those living nearby are fuming over the green light given to the fence.

Bank worker Sharon Whalley, 52, told The Sun: "I'm so angry like most people here.
"It's made living here a misery rather than a picturesque street to live in.
"That fence has ruined things. It blocks out the light and makes it all dark and dreary."
The 52-year-old said she used to gaze out her window at trees – and there was lots of light.

Sharon continued: "Now we have to look at a big fence.
"Plus it is very noisy with all the children playing.
"I have lots of Zoom meetings during the day and I have to go the furthest part of the house to block out all the noise.
"It's a nightmare. I blame both the council and the nursery."
Another resident, who did not want to give her name, said: "It's shocking that the council have allowed this.
"It's beautiful to look up out street and see all these cobbles.
"It's idyllic and then you see this huge fence and a crumbing caravan."
'IT'S A NIGHTMARE'
The nursery put up the fence to allow the children an extended play area.
It used to be a car park belonging to a nearby pub which closed and was turned into a nursery.
Ms Whalley said: "We had an agreement with the pub that locals could use the car park.
"We used to look out for each other.
"But that has now changed.
"The nursery use the old car park as an extended play area at the back of the nursery."
A spokesperson for the nursery said: "We erected the fence in order to secure what is our private car park.
"When I spoke with planning I was advised to secure my boundary so I did."
They added: "Sun rise and set goes across and behind the houses on (the nearby street) therefore the fence doesn’t block any light either."
The Sun has approached the council for comment.
It's not unusual for fences to cause havoc in neighbourhoods.
