RESIDENTS living in a village with just 10 houses say they may be hidden away but never feel cut off.
The locals have even revealed the best bit of living in such an isolated spot – and why they have no plans to leave.
There's only a limited amount of people that call Yorkshire's Beck Hole home – but those few say the community is what makes the tiny town.
The village sits down a steep hill perched next to streams that run to the River Esk, and it's just a 20-minute drive from the popular Whitby Beach.
It's home to a handful of listed cottages, a small pub, and sweet shop and draws in visitors who want to wander the 10-minute track to Thomason Foss waterfall.
But, often it's just the locals wandering around the village.

Colin and Judy Pyrah are two of those – they've called Beck Hole home for three decades.
The couple moved from Wakefield after falling in love with their home.
Colin said: “It’s a lovely little community and the community spirit is so important.
"There’s only about 10 houses but everyone knows and helps everybody else. We never feel cut off because everyone comes together.

"We’re a quarter an hour from the sea but we have the woods and moors too. I look out of the window in the morning and see so many birds."
He said there are only about three holiday cottages, adding: "What’s so lovely about it is we have a lovely mixture of residents with different backgrounds and ages.
"We have a fisherman who is on the sea most of the time and he brings things back for, an ex-aeronautical engineer can ex-coal miner turned livestock farmer – everyone is lovely."
Colin explained why they first moved – and don't plan to leave.
He said: "Judy absolutely loved the house when we walked here.
"We shot over as soon as it came on the market and bought it straight away. We absolutely love it here."
Judy added: "We saw this house had come on the market as we walked to the pub here.
"We've been here ever since."
It’s a lovely little community and the community spirit is so important.
Glenys Crampton owns that pub – she bought the Birch Hall Inn in 1981.
The publican says she's never been tempted to leave, adding: "Look out the door.
"It’s beautiful and special. Once you’re here you have to tear yourselves away even to go do your shopping. The lady before us was here 54 years.
"We get a good mixture of tourists and walkers who help our pub and shop survive. We're well placed for people to come on the way to Whitby – we get some wonderful visitors.
"The scenery is lovely and we all know each other here."
Tourists even comment on the scenery – with visitors Rob and Diane expressing their love for it, too.

Rob said: "Today we've done the walk through Beck Hole and it's been lovely.
"The scenery is beautiful and it's so peaceful and tranquil."
