Parents of murdered teacher Marelle Sturrock reveal unborn baby's name in heartbreaking tribute | The Sun

MARELLE Sturrock's heartbroken parents have paid tribute to their daughter who was the "happiest person".

The mum-to-be, 35, was found dead at her home on Jura Street in Glasgow last week.

Worried colleagues and police rushed to the primary teacher's home in the Craigton area of the city on April 25 after she failed to appear for school.

Heavily pregnant Marelle, originally from Wick, Caithness, was confirmed dead at the scene and her unborn son did not survive.

Her devastated parents, Colin and Lorna, have today released a statement.

In the emotional piece, they revealed that their grandson was going to be called Jayden.

They also thanked family, friends, Marelle's workmates and cops for their help following her death.

The statement read: “We are devastated following the deaths of our daughter, Marelle, and soon to be grandson, Jayden Sturrock.

“Marelle was the happiest person you could ever meet and was always looking to help others the best she could.

“Marelle and her partner doted on each other, and this incident has come as a total shock to all who knew her.

"We would like to thank family and friends, colleagues at Sandwood Primary School, Police Scotland officers, both in the Highlands and Glasgow, for their efforts and comforting support following our tragic event.

“Our family would like everyone, including the press, to respect our privacy at this very sad and difficult time."

After Marelle's death police confirmed they were treating it as suspicious and launched a manhunt to track down her fiance, David Yates.

After an extensive search at Mugdock Country Park in nearby Milngavie, his body was recovered.

His body was found in a reservoir by specialist police water teams after a 60-hour long search at the 600-acre beauty spot.
