Emergency crews were focusing on a conveyor belt, with a large blanket draped over a section.
A WorkSafe spokeswoman said the watchdog was investigating the incident and expressed its condolences to the man’s family.
“He was reported to have been working with a conveyor belt when he was caught in the
belt,” she said.
“WorkSafe investigators examine the circumstances of incidents with a view to ensuring
compliance and preventing future incidents of a similar nature.”
The death is the second in North Coogee to be investigated by WorkSafe in the past year after Nathaniel Good, 19, died at a construction site in November.
WA Salt Supply is the state’s largest naturally harvested solar lake salt manufacturer and services domestic and international markets.
More to come.
