Pig named Albert Einswine who escaped from New Jersey farm leads local cops on a wild chase for quarter of a mile before 30-minute standoff

A clever pig named Albert Einswine led police officers in New Jersey on a wild chase after he worked out a way to escape from his farm.

The hog perfectly executed his plan to break free from the local pig farm in Deptford Township on Tuesday but quickly had officers on his tail.

He evaded arrest as long as he could but was caught following a chase which lasted a quarter of a mile.

The incident was caught on video and posted online by the Deptford Township Police Department. 

It shows the four-year-old pig squealing and running away each time the police officer gets close while the cop filming laughs.

The swine went on the run after escaping his enclosure at the pig farm, but he did not get very far once the police were called. 

In a clip of the chase, a cop tells the pig ‘we’re all friends here’, as he tries to stop the hog in its tracks. 

But the porker ignores him and jolts away in the other direction. 

The pig then begins to squeal as another officer chases it along the sidewalk, but it refuses to be caught.

Two officers try to catch it using a leash but Albert Einswine ducks and avoids them again.

The cop filming the interaction is heard laughing and says: ‘You almost got it.’ 

They eventually caught the pig after struggling during a standoff thatlasted around 30 minutes. 

‘Earlier this afternoon, Deptford officers were dispatched to the area of Tanyard Road and Brenner Drive for a report of a loose pig,’ a police statement read.

‘Through the use of de-escalation techniques and the latest technology, officers were finally able to apprehend the suspect.

‘The suspect was identified as Albert Einswine, a 4-year-old pig from the New Sharon section of Deptford Township. Mr. Einswine was released on his own recognizance.’

The police officers reunited Albert Einswine with his owner later that day

Detective Sgt. Bob Jones told WPVI: ‘The video doesn’t show the whole thing. We had to chase the pig for a quarter mile.

‘They’re faster than they look. He got pretty far for what it was. I don’t know where he was going to go.’ 

He joked: ‘Cops chasing a pig is never not funny.

‘He wasn’t listening. He didn’t listen to our commands at all.

‘Everything we learned in the academy went right out the window. Once we got a leash on it, he kind of calmed down. The scene became secure.’ 

The police officers reunited Albert Einswine with his owner later that day.
