A ‘demon’ serial rapist dubbed the ‘Brixton R Kelly’ who groomed and raped six young girls he had met on Snapchat has been slammed by his victims – with one saying the abuse left her suicidal. 

Kevarnie Queen, 19, was found guilty of 22 counts of rape relating to the following a trial at Inner London Crown Court.

The court heard harrowing testimonies from the young victims, who said Queen would abuse them in communal stairwells near his home when they told him no.

Three of his victims were infected with sexually transmitted infections after the assault, while one said she had attempted to kill herself seven times following the abuse.

Others said being raped by Queen had been their first sexual experience, adding that they were waiting for marriage to have sex for the first time.

Queen, who wore a grey hoodie draped over a white t-shirt with a necklace bearing a red cross, appeared unmoved and uninterested in the proceedings.

The court heard Queen, once known  on social media as the ‘Brixton R Kelly’ in reference to the American singer convicted of child sex offences, had groomed all but one of his victims on social media.

It heard the rapist would manipulate them and sometimes body shame them.

Heartbreaking impact statements from his victims, some of whom attended court and wept as their statements were read by prosecutor Laurie-Anne Power KC, demonstrated the severe impact of Queen’s actions.

His first victim, who has since had a child with another man and was raped by Queen when they were both just 15, told the court she had isolated herself after her abuse and still struggled to leave her home years later.

‘I live in constant fear,’ she wrote. ‘I cannot erase the memories of what Kevarnie did to me. I often cry myself to sleep. I hope being in prison helps Kevarnie learn how to respect women. I hate Kevarnie for what he did to me.’

Another victim, who wrote her statement to directly address Queen, said: ‘The pain you have caused in my life will never be forgotten.

‘I have tried to commit suicide three different times. At one point I started taking drugs to numb the pain. I suffer from PTSD. Every time I see a girl child I pray they will avoid meeting a demon like you.

‘To hear you have other victims after me proves that you are heartless. When I look at myself in the mirror I see a damaged soul. My insecurities were used against me with [Queen’s] constant body shaming.

‘I trusted him and he betrayed me. He gave me his word and broke it on November 4, 2019, when he first raped me in a communal stairwell in a block opposite [Queen’s home].’

Another of the victims, who was in an abusive relationship with Queen for around two years, told the court he had seemed ‘disinterested’ as she gave evidence during his trial and was only sorry he’d been caught.

‘The only way I can describe him for what he did to me is evil,’ she said. ‘We were in a relationship for two years. I am confident in saying he is not sorry for what he has done.

‘He is only sorry he got caught. He didn’t treat me like a human. He wouldn’t allow me to speak about my feelings. My worst nightmare was that nothing would happen and [Queen] would continue to rape girls and rob them of their innocence.

‘He seemed so disinterested [whilst I gave evidence during trial], as if he didn’t care what was happening and how serious the case was. I know him well enough to know that he was thinking he would get away with it.

‘[Queen] was and always will be a danger to all girls and women.’

One of the victim’s mothers told the court Queen’s actions in raping her daughter had caused ‘years and years of suffering’ in just a matter of hours which had left her child ‘a shell’ of the girl she was.

The woman’s daughter told the court she had received death threats on Snapchat after it emerged that she’d reported Queen to police for raping her.

The young girl said: ‘I am a Christian and wanted my first time to be with a person who I had married. Kevarnie has taken that away from me. I didn’t want to have sex, but he didn’t care.

‘What he did to me had a detrimental effect on my mental health. I still have nightmares to this day* I don’t think that will ever go away.’

The victims were unanimous in saying that Queen’s actions had left them almost completely unable to trust men, whilst some said they had turned to drugs and alcohol to numb their pain.

One victim said: ‘He used me as a pawn for his own needs without my consideration. I blame myself for not speaking up sooner, but I just wanted to run away from all of this.

‘I will never be able to love purely again. I will never be able to trust anyone again. I will never be able to get my innocence back, but it’s something I will have to live with for the rest of my life.’

Another victim added: ‘I don’t believe in love anymore. I am tired of being used, mentally and physically. My experience with you only led to trauma. The pain you brought to my life has changed me forever.’

Defending Queen, Laurie-Anne Power KC argued he should be sentenced as a 15-year-old, as this was the age his offending commenced. 

She added he had been stabbed twice in prison and was currently under 24 hour isolation due to the ‘imminent danger’ posed to him.

Queen is due to be sentenced on Monday.
