Bottles of beer being thrown, rowdy sixteen year olds and partying through the night are images that come to mind when picturing Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Thousands of GCSE and A-level students flock to the festivals in Berkshire and Yorkshire every summer to celebrate their freedom with rucksacks and trolleys packed full of booze.
But what about the crowds who want to get a good night’s sleep after the headline act?
Reading and Leeds will now be running a Quiet Camp to offer people an alternative site to the usual endless rows of rowdy tents.
The festivals shared on their social media account last night that Quiet Camp will be available for punters to stay for the weekend in 2024 – with an early interest registration link available.
The iconic music event is a favourite amongst young people, with thousands of GCSE students turning up last year
Although details of what the Quiet Camp will be like are yet to be released, fans already have strong opinions.
One user joked: ‘Bring a book and it really will be a reading festival,’ meanwhile another penned ‘Leeds will never see quiet,’ alongside a laughing emoji.
Others added: ‘Quiet and Reading do not go in the same sentence lol’ and ‘Will not be quiet at all’.
One X, formerly known as Twitter, user pleaded: ‘Just do a 21+ camp please,’ with another chiming in with: ‘Over 21’s would be a bloody blessing’.
Some festival goers welcomed the news, with one writing: ‘Apparently Reading & Leeds are gonna have a quiet camp next year? Sign me up’.
Meanwhile, others joked: ‘A quiet camp at Reading/Leeds sounds as useful as a chocolate fireguard’ and ‘I assume that quiet camp just means throwing bags of rubbish at each other in silence or something?’
One TikToker who lives in Leeds, joined in with the debate on TikTok.
The video by Eve, who goes by @eveililz on the social media app, has already been seen by almost 20,000 people.

One viewer commented: ‘To be honest I did brown camp and it was sound. I can see “quiet camp” getting hijacked’.
Others added: ‘better not be replacing eco camp with this’ and ‘sleep for the weak’.
