Tim Bannister of Rightmove said: ‘Beach huts have become increasingly sought after over the past couple of years and this has driven prices up. The demand has been so frenzied that some are being sold for hundreds of thousands of pounds.’
This comes after a luxury beach hut in North Wales was up for rent for more than £1,200 a week but the owners wouldn’t be able to sleep there overnight.
The wooden bathing hut sits on a sought after stretch of golden sand in Abersoch, North Wales – an area referred to by some as ‘Cheshire by the Sea’ because of the number of holiday homes snapped up by wealthy owners.
Holidaymakers can enjoy an open plan living space complete with a kitchenette with sea views and their own decking area.
The price to rent stands at up to £1,259 for a week in peak summer months, but there are strict rules against staying overnight in the holiday let despite the luxury price tag and there is no bathroom.
The hut is listed as a ‘superb location to relax’ with lockable storage for any watersports equipment.
Neighbouring huts have been sold on the beach for record-breaking prices of up to £200,000.
Despite the end of Covid restrictions and lockdown, beach huts are still in high demand
