A schoolboy was arrested by police and is assisting officers with their inquiries.
Another student, suffering non-threatening upper body injuries, was treated by paramedics. He was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Police are continuing their investigations, but confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the community.
Reservoir High School declined to comment, but a spokesperson confirmed the school was still open. The co-ed public school has around 700 pupils.
Speaking to 3AW on Tuesday afternoon, a father of a student at the school said the victim was stabbed in the neck.
“My son in year 10 just told me that a year 9 stabbed a year 10 with a knife from one of their trade subjects,” the father, Frank, said.
He added: “In the last two weeks, there’s been about three or four fights, this is constant.”
The Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
