Terrifying moment passenger plane bounces uncontrollably on a runway while coming into land on Spanish holiday island

This is the terrifying moment a passenger plane bounced uncontrollably on a runway as it came in to land on a Spanish holiday island.
The Canaryfly plane was carrying passengers from Gran Canaria to Lanzarote on Tuesday when it came into difficulties.
Footage captured by a live webcam overlooking the runway at the César Manrique Airport showed the plane as it approached the tarmac at 12:52pm local time.
As the clip begins, the propeller plane already appears to be fighting against the wind, but as it nears the runway the pilot straightens the aircraft out.
With the camera looking down the runway and the plane’s wheels just meters above the tarmac, everything suggests the landing will be a routine one.

But passengers would soon find out they were in for anything but an ordinary touchdown.
As soon as the wheels hit the tarmac, the plane begins bouncing uncontrollably, before skimming like a stone in slow-motion down the runway.
The first bounce kicks the plane back into the air, and its nose tilts forward precariously. It bounces on its wheels again, and tilts forward even further.
On the third bounce, the plane kicks up high into the air, banks and twists at a gut-wrenching angle before the pilot brings it down for one final attempt.
However, it bounces off the tarmac yet again, prompting the pilot to abort the landing and regain altitude back into the skies above the airport.
According to local newspaper Canarian Weekly, the pilot circled the island and brought the the plane around for a second try.
An image from FlightRadar shared by the publication showed the plane’s flight path matched the description. The flight path tracks the plane from Gran Canaria to Lanzarote, where it is shown to have circled the island.

On the second attempt, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft. The incident is the latest in a string of distressing landings around the world. From Skiathos in Greece , to Lukla in Nepal, there are some runways around the globe that would put any seasoned flier – or even pilot – on edge.
In one episode , the landing gear snapped off a plane bound for the United States after it was forced to turn back and carry out an emergency landing in May.
Dramatic footage showed the plane touching down on the tarmac, with the heavy landing causing one of its wheel bogeys to detach and bounce into the air.
More video shot from Heathrow Airport showed a British Airways jet’s tail made contact with the ground in an uneasy landing during Storm Corrie last year.

A plane tries to stabilise as it tries to land at Salzburg Airport in Austria
Close shave: This is the shocking moment a pilot struggled to land a British Airways plane at Heathrow Airport in London during a storm in February, which brought gusts of up to 92mph
Winds of up to 92mph caused devastation across the UK at the start of last year as Storm Corrie battered the country, causing fatalities, leaving thousands without power, closing schools and cancelling trains.
The footage shows the plane coming in to land at the London airport at an unnatural angle, before pilot acts quickly to correct the failed landing as the rear of the plane scrapes along the runway, pulling up and averting any more damage.
In another nail-biting moment in 2017, a Boeing B7370-800 battled through crosswinds to make a dramatic landing at Salzburg Airport in Austria.
The clip shows the Enter Air flight touching down in 50mph winds as the pilot wrestles to keep the aircraft under control.
