This is the moment a bag thief lurks behind a woman in a busy London café and uses his foot to swipe her designer bag, camera and cash.

Laura, a photographer, shared a CCTV clip on Twitter showing the moment that she had more than £10,000 worth of property stolen, when a thief took her Christian Dior backpack at around 6.30pm on Saturday.

The man, wearing a pink polo t-shirt, baseball cap and sunglasses, can be seen moving his leg in the direction of the bag for a few minutes inside Acai Berry, a health food cafe on Wardour Street in Soho.

In the CCTV, he can be seen reaching down into the corner, where the woman’s bag is sat

He then reaches down and takes the patterned designer bag, before walking out of the front door.

The entire theft spanned two minutes, with the man continually looking around the cafe as he nudged the bag towards him.

Appealing for help on social media, Laura said: ‘The thief who took my bag yesterday. Does anyone know who he is. My passport, visa and my working phone and over £10,000 of property were stolen.’

She said that also inside the bag was a variety of photography equipment, including her Fujifilm XT4, two lenses, an iPhone with footage for her clients, ID, her key and medicine.

She said that she reported the theft to Charing Cross Police Station on Sunday morning.

‘I have been Charing Cross Police Station and enquired ( begged) if they can go to boots to get CCTV with me,’ she wrote.

‘They did nothing. The police didn’t even bother to look at the CCTV footage I was trying to show them.’

The man picked up the bag and held it low, carrying it on the opposite side of his body to the woman

He then carries the designer bag out of the cafe, holding it low to the ground

Laura said that she was left ‘crying and crying’ from the theft, saying that she was ‘sooo stupid’.

‘I have learnt a lot from this big trouble,’ she wrote. ‘I should have taken my responsibility to take care of it. I love London. Since I moved here, almost everyone I met was nice.

‘I work hard for two years finally purchased my devices. Crying and crying.’

The Metropolitan Police force was contacted for comment.
