No Trump mug shot expected, how the hearing will unfold

Donald Trump will appear before magistrate judge Moxila A Upadhyaya.

He is expected to fly into DC from his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey onboard his private jet.

Naturally, security will be intense.

Trump is expected to be fingerprinted as he is processed for his court hearing, but The New York Times Glen Thrush reports that he will not have a mug shot taken.

‘I am being arrested for you’: Trump says

Donald Trump has made his first comments as he heads to Washington DC for his arraignment.

He issued the following statement (yes, in all caps) on his social media site Truth Social.

“I AM NOW GOING TO WASHINGTON, D.C., TO BE ARRESTED FOR HAVING CHALLENGED A CORRUPT, RIGGED, & STOLEN ELECTION. IT IS A GREAT HONOR, BECAUSE I AM BEING ARRESTED FOR YOU. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!” Trump said.

About an hour later he added the following:

“Biden and his family steal Millions and Millions of Dollars, including BRIBES from foreign countries, and I’m headed to D.C. to be ARRESTED for protesting a CROOKED ELECTION. UNFAIR VENUE, UNFAIR JUDGE. We are a Nation in Decline. MAGA!!!”

Trump to be arraigned

Good morning and welcome to our rolling coverage of the arraignment of former US President Donald Trump who was this week indicted over the January 6 insurrection, when a mob stormed the US Capitol in an attempt to overthrow Joe Biden’s election victory in 2020.

I’m Latika Bourke and I’ll be keeping you updated on the extraordinary spectacle about to unfold of a former US President charged with trying to defraud the United States.

In total, Trump faces four counts or charges under the indictment released earlier this week by special counsel Jack Smith.

We expect Trump to appear in person at the US federal courthouse in Washington DC, ensuring worldwide televised and news coverage, to plead not guilty and that the charges are political.
