TWO military planes horrifically collided mid-air before crashing in flames on a residential street in Rome.
The pilots of the doomed U-208 aircraft were reportedly killed instantly as they smashed into one another on Tuesday.
The pair were flying over Colle Fiorito as part of a pre-planned training exercise when they butted heads in the skies.
The planes, belonging to the Air Forces' 60th wing, then pummelled to the ground in a residential area near the Guidonia military airport.
Two other planes were also accompanying them, who thankfully were not involved in the incident.
One of the aircraft ended up slamming into a car on the street while a terrifying inferno erupted.
It was left slumped between two buildings, forcing an emergency evacuation in the area.
The other appeared to have crashed into a nearby field.
The two pilots on board both fateful planes were said to have died while trapped in the crumpled wreckages as they plummeted.
The two accompanying plots landed without issue. No other injuries have yet been reported.
