UK weather: Crowds celebrate Summer Solstice as music lovers set to bask in glorious 27C sun at Glastonbury this weekend | The Sun

CROWDS gathered at Stonehenge to celebrate the Summer Solstice yesterday evening – with revellers set to bask in glorious 27C sun at Glastonbury this weekend.

Revellers gathered at the prehistoric site on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire to celebrate the longest day of the year.

On the solstice, the sun rises behind the entrance to the stone circle, and light is beamed into its centre.

Now the Met Office has forecast sunny spells and scattered thunderstorms from today until Sunday.

Today there will be heavy showers in some areas, with a risk of hail and thunder.

But it will feel warm for many, with the weather hot and humid in the south east.
