The West must stop opposing Russia and agree to ‘annihilation’ of democratic Ukraine or face Third World War and ‘nuclear winter’, warns Putin ally in latest chilling rant
- Dmitry Medvedev was president of Russia and is a close aide to Vladimir Putin
- He called for Russia to suspend diplomatic relations with UK and other countries
The West must stop opposing Russia’s aggression in Ukraine – or face nuclear war, epidemics and famine which could wipe out millions, a close aide to Vladimir Putin has warned.
The dictator will not accept any solution short of total defeat of the ‘annihilation’ of democratic Ukraine, warned the former Russian president Dmitry Medvedev in a chilling threat to the free world.
‘You don’t have to be a visionary to understand that the confrontation phase will be very long,’ said Medvedev, who is now deputy head of 70-year-old Putin’s security council.
‘The confrontation will last for decades… One way to resolve it is the third world war.
‘But it is obviously bad, because the victors are not at all guaranteed further prosperity, as was the case after previous world wars… Most likely, there will simply be no winners.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Kremlin’s powerful security council, and a former Russian president and prime minister, has issued a chilling threat to the West
Medvedev is a close ally of President Putin, but could be seeking to position himself to return to the Kremlin if Putin falters or is too ill to continue in power
‘After all, it is impossible to consider as a victory the world in which nuclear winter has come, million-plus cities lie in ruins, there is no electricity due to the transcendent electromagnetic impulse, and a huge number of people die from the shock wave, light radiation, penetrating radiation and radioactive contamination.
‘Where terrible epidemics and famine reign.’
His sinister and threatening analysis was in the Kremlin’s official newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
He also called for Russia to suspend diplomatic relations with the UK and other countries who are siding with Kyiv.
‘It would be better to temporarily suspend diplomatic relations with Finland and similar countries (such as Poland, the Baltic states and, of course, the UK), or at least downgrade their level for a while.’
He warned that the West must halt its efforts to prevent Russia from overpowering Ukraine or face severe consequences.
‘There should be no more Anti-Russia in principle, otherwise everything will end very badly sooner or later,’ he said. ‘Kyiv Nazi regime must be annihilated.’
Medvedev warned of a ‘nuclear winter’ if the West failed to stop supporting Ukraine
Medvedev also highlights Russia’s goal in the war as being to ‘eliminate the threat of Ukraine’s membership of NATO’ – a goal he claims it is going to achieve.
‘If countries involved in conflict are not accepted into NATO, that means that the conflict will be permanent, because this is a question of Russia’s existence,’ he also declared.
He warned that Western politicians of all stripes were blind to the threat that ‘such an Apocalypse is not only possible, but also quite probable’.
He claimed: ‘The world is in a confrontation much worse than during the Caribbean crisis [Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962], because our opponents have decided to really defeat the largest nuclear power – Russia.
‘They are, no doubt, down-and-out jerks, but that’s just the way it is.’
Medvedev demanded the ‘annihilation’ of democratically elected Ukraine as a condition of peace and end to the war.
Medvedev was president of Russia from 2008 to 2012, and was also the country’s longest-serving post-Communist prime minister
‘Our interests should be taken into account to the maximum extent,’ he said.
‘There should be no more Anti-Russia in principle, otherwise everything will end very badly sooner or later.
‘The Kyiv Nazi regime must be annihilated, legislatively banned in civilised Europe as fascist.
‘Thrown away, like a rotten piece of lard, to the dustbin of world history….
‘The West will have to accept this if it does not want an apocalyptic end to our imperfect civilisation.’
Medvedev, 57, is seeking to position himself to return to the Kremlin if Putin falters or is too ill to continue in power.
