Huw Edwards’ wife Vicky Flind today named her husband as the BBC star facing allegations of paying a teenager for explicit photographs, as MPs and the public have hailed her ‘immense strength’.
As TV producer Flind shared a statement on her husband’s behalf out of ‘concern for his mental wellbeing’, Labour MP Jess Phillips was among those to share their support for Edwards’ wife.
‘Vicky Flind is by some distance one of the nicest, kindest and most decent women I’ve had the privilege to work with’, she wrote on Twitter.
Flind has run a number of current affairs shows and previously worked alongside her husband at the BBC. She was the long-time editor of the politics show The Week before she left in 2016.
Flind then moved to ITV and began working on Peston on Sunday. The show is now a midweek politics slot and Flind is the Executive Editor.
Edwards and Flind have five children and live in leafy Dulwich, south London in a £1.5m detached Victorian house.
Their children include three sons, Dan, Sammy, and Amos, and two daughters, Hannah and Rebecca, all believed to be in their 20s.

Huw Edwards last year paid tribute to his wife and five children for supporting him during his bouts of severe depression.
Now Edwards, 61, the highest-paid BBC newsreader and until now, the face of the Corporation, will need the help of his loved ones more than ever before.
In an interview with Wales Online, Huw said that English is mostly spoken inside his house because his wife is not fluent in Welsh.
He added that his two eldest children can understand Welsh but the others are yet to learn. He continued:
‘They talk frequently to my mum who is back in Llanelli and they are very aware of the heritage of my dad and the fact he was such a big figure in Welsh language culture and are very proud of that.’
Edwards has also shared how his ‘amily deal with his mental health, crediting his Vicky for being ‘supportive when she needs to be’.

Speaking about his children, he noted: ‘One of my girls will come to me and ask how I’m feeling. She’s got a code – she’ll say: ‘How are you upstairs today?’ And I think, for a 20-year-old, that’s a nice thing to be asked.’
He told the Guardian in a 2020 Q&A: ‘There’s a principle that your youngest child gets a far better crack of the whip than your eldest.
‘All your anxieties and inexperience and cluelessness as a parent are taken out on your eldest child. By the time you get to your youngest, in my case number five, you’re a brilliant parent.
‘So if you could give a parent all the patience and knowledge that they would have with their second or third child or whatever to the first, that’s the one piece of advice I’d give.’
Dulwich is an affluent, village-like area in the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, known for its boutique shops, modern restaurants and leafy parks.

The average house of properties there is well over £700,000.
In 2019 their house was burgled and Huw was awoken by the intruder at 5.30am and ran downstairs to approach them. The burglar escaped in Huw’s GL SUV Mercedes.
The car was recovered the following day.
Following the death of his father in 2010, Huw struggled with weight gain.
After his wife pointed it out, he decided to take charge of his health and fitness, and lost three stone.
He told the Times: ‘It’s like a drug. I’d eat when I wasn’t hungry. I wasn’t doing any fitness.
‘I was grazing, watching telly and eating stuff, even though I didn’t need it.’
Edwards took up boxing and running and started working with boxer Clinton McKenzie, who helped him transform his eating habits and fitness.
