SIMRAN Khan was spared a prison sentence for arson after revealing their struggle with transitioning.
Having made arrangements with specialist units to cater for his transition, part of the 22-month suspended sentence was based on him staying in residential care.
Who is Simran Khan?
Simran Khan first appeared in court charged with reckless arson when he started a fire in a residential unit flat.
Fire crews attended the scene and treated a woman for smoke inhalation at the scene.
When Khan appeared in court for the crime, the judge took pity on him as they pointed out that he was seriously struggling with his gender transition.
As a result, a 22-month suspended sentence was given with conditions placed within the order.

Part of this was that he stayed in a residential home in Leeds.
This was to allow the 24-year-old to get help with his transitioning.
Why did Simran Khan get sent to prison?
Three months after the original sentencing for reckless arson, police spotted a car registered to Simran Khan dealing drugs in Bank Top, Blackburn.
A plain-clothed police car monitored the vehicle as numerous individuals were witnessed coming and going.

It became evident that the individuals inside were dealing drugs.
After the vehicle was observed doing the same at two other locations, police approached the vehicle.
They found that Khan had a burner phone on them, money and various drugs which were "bagged up" to sell.
As a result, he was sentenced to three years and and eight months in prison.
Where is Simran Khan now?
Simran Khan is currently serving his sentence in HMP Styal inWilmslow, Cheshire.
The prison is a closed category prison for female adults and young offenders.
Khan will feature in the programme Parole which will air on BBC2 on February 27, 2023 at 9pm.

What happened to Colin Stacey on Parole?
Colin Stacey appeared on the programme pleading his case for early release on the basis he is a completely different person to the one who committed his crime.
In 1997, Stacey murdered Leigh Shaw as a result of an argument they had over football.
Brighton and Hove Albion fan Stacey kicked Shaw to death as he was a West Ham United supporter.
Shaw died of severe head injuries 24 hours after the incident in Whitehawk, East Sussex.
He claimed: "I’m a lot older, a lot more mature, I know the consequences of my actions — I should be released, without a doubt.”
Colin Stacey previously got parole in 2017 but was sent back to prison after a fight.
The widow of Leigh Shaw disagrees with Stacey's claim that he is a different person, and should remain in custody.
