WOKE bosses are rebranding the Brecon Beacons — saying the name goes against green ideals.
They want to move on from the traditional idea of beacons as being carbon-emitting wood fires.
So from today the Welsh national park will drop the burning brazier from its logo and will be known as Bannau Brycheiniog.
The Welsh word “bannau” translates as peaks.
Brycheiniog refers to fifth century regional king Brychan.
Park CEO Catherine Mealing-Jones said: “A giant burning brazier is not a good look given we are trying to provide leadership on decarbonisation.”

But critics blasted the move.
Tory MP Sir John Hayes said: “It’s nonsense. As soon as they invented fire they have been burning wood.
“The people making these decisions are out of touch.”
Toby Young, of the Free Speech Union said: “Less than 20 per cent of the population speaks Welsh, so most won’t have a clue what the new name means and tourists won’t be able to find it.”
