A woman has died and two other pedestrians have been injured after a bus crashed into a shelter in Manchester.
The double decker collided with people waiting at a bus stop near Piccadilly Gardens at 9.30pm last night.
One woman, in her 50s died, and another woman, also in her 50s, is in hospital with serious injuries following the collision.
A man in his 60s received treatment for minor injuries.

The bus driver remained at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries, a police spokesman said.
Stagecoach Manchester confirmed that one of its buses was involved in a ‘serious incident’ last night.
A spokesman said: ‘We can confirm that one of our vehicles was involved in a serious incident at a bus shelter at Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester around 9.30pm on Sunday evening.
‘Our first thoughts are for those affected by the incident and their families. Safety is our absolute priority and we are supporting the investigation into the circumstances involved in any way that we can.’
Onlookers said that the bus mounted the kerb before colliding with the bus shelter last night.
One eyewitness told Manchester Evening News: ‘I just saw the bus suddenly mount the kerb and crash into the bus stop. There were hundreds of people standing around trying to help. The police were here within minutes.’
Officers are appealing for anyone with dash or helmet-cam footage of the collision, or the area in the minutes before the crash, to get in touch.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: ‘Investigators appeal for information following collision in Manchester City Centre
‘Around 9.25pm on Sunday 10 July 2022, we received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrians in the Piccadilly area.
‘Officers attended and established that a double decker bus had collided with three pedestrians between stops C and D.
‘One pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, sadly died. Another woman in her 50s remains in hospital with serious injuries. A man in his 60s received treatment for minor injuries.
‘The bus driver remained at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries.
‘Investigators are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with dash or helmet cam footage of the collision or from Piccadilly in the minutes beforehand.
‘Anyone with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.’
