Amanda Owen confirms split from husband Clive after 22 years of marriage

Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen has confirmed that she and husband Clive have split.

Amanda, 47, and Clive, 67, share nine children together and they have been married since the turn of the century, after tying-the-knot five years after they met in 1995.

In a joint statement shared on Instagram, confirming the split, Amanda wrote: "Clive and I have are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate."

The statement continued: "This hasn't been easy, but we both believe it's the right choice for the future of our family.

"Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children."

The couple went on to thank everyone for their support, while asking for privacy during this time.

The statement was signed off with both Amanda and Clive's names.

The former couple found fame on their incredibly popular Channel 5 show, Our Yorkshire Farm.

Clive and Amanda are both hill shepherds, and the programme follows their journey at balancing work and family life at their Ravenseat farm in Upper Swaledale as they navigate the seasons.

Their nine children: Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmie and Nancy, all feature in the show.

It is not yet clear how or if the show will continue now that Clive and Amanda have announced their split.

Amanda recently revealed that she had been contacted by social services over her parenting, but did not outline the reasoning.

While promoting her latest book, Amanda told an audience at the Hay Festival of Literature & Arts: "I don't see myself as a perfect parent.

"I got a yellow flag from social services… I believe there is a happy medium whereby you do let the kids climb trees.

"Yes, they haven't got harnesses on or hard hats, but I believe there are some lessons to be learned that don't necessarily result in instant death but actually learn your own parameters."

Amanda and Clive's nine children all work and help out on the farm, something which their parents deem a "good life lesson".

Amanda's fans were quick to leap to her defence over the social services warning.

One person wrote on social media: "And To think some question your parenting style. What an amazing activity very few will experience in their lifetime never mind this young."

Another said "Beautiful children. Well balanced, cared for and loved," while a third added: "Lucky children what a life they have."
