Words are the ‘Iron Man’ star has provided the struggling actor and his family with a place to live in Los Angeles as they escaped the scrutiny in the Cayman Islands.
AceShowbiz –Robert Downey Jr.‘s good deed to Armie Hammer goes beyond paying for his rehab stint. It has been reported that the 57-year-old actor has provided the struggling actor with a place to live in since he left the Cayman Islands.
After rumors were floating on the Internet that Armie had been working at a hotel in the Cayman Islands, he was so besieged by press that he decided to quit his timeshare salesman job and leave the island. On Friday, July 8, he and his family, including his two young children and ex-wife Elizabeth Chambers, flew to Los Angeles to escape the scrutiny.
According to Vanity Fair, while in town, the 35-year-old has been staying at a home owned by Robert, while he’s also attended an A.A. Meeting in Malibu. The “Iron Man” star has allegedly also been providing Armie with financial assistance until he gets back on his feet.
The same source reveled that RDJ paid for Armie’s 6-month rehab stint, which was completed in December of last year. The “Call Me by Your Name” star checked into rehab for treatment of “drugs, alcohol and sex” issues in May 2021.
Following his release from rehab, Armie had been laying low in the Cayman Islands, until news emerged earlier this month that he worked as a hotel concierge there. After the rumors were debunked, Variety reported that Armie indeed worked as a timeshare salesman to support his two children and ex-wife.
“He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle,” a source told the site. “The reality is he’s totally broke, and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family.” Before selling timeshares, Armie allegedly managed an apartment complex in the Cayman Islands.
Responding to the reports, Armie’s lawyer said in a statement, “I can’t confirm or deny the report because Armie hasn’t addressed it. I just think it’s s***ty that, if he is selling timeshares, the media is shaming him for having a ‘normal job.’ “
