Big Brother viewers left uncomfortable at Yinrun’s VERY emotional reaction to Trish’s exit after her ‘racist’ tweets resurfaced: ‘If only she knew about the posts she might not feel so upset!’

Big Brother viewers were left uncomfortable at Yinrun’s emotional reaction to Trish’s exit on Sunday night’s episode after her ‘racist’ tweets resurfaced.

Customer support agent Yinrun, who is from Shanghai, China, burst into tears in the Diary Room after her close pal was evicted along with Chanelle on Friday.

But since being evicted old ‘racist and homophobic’ social media posts resurfaced from Trish’s accounts.

The shocking historic tweets refer to minority groups and make homophobic, racist and ableist comments. 

Trish will now not appear on the spin-off show Big Brother: Late & Live as expected after a contestant is evicted from the show.

In addition ITV are investigating the third party hired to trawl over housemates’ social media before they enter the show to search for problematic posts.

After the tweets emerged many watching Yinrun’s emotional reaction to her exit were left uncomfortable. 

One said: ‘To think that Yinrun will come out and see the racist tweets Trish made, oh I feel bad #BBUK.’

A second said: ‘Seeing Yinrun cry over Trish after seeing all of Trish’s racist tweets makes me so scared for how Yinrun is gonna feel when she sees them #BBUK.’

A third said: ‘Hearing Yinrun say all this after knowing what’s happened with Trish…’

Someone else penned: ‘I know those tweets are super old, but… anyone else find it kinda awkward with Yinrun being so distraught over Trish’s eviction?’

A fifth said: ‘poor yinrun crying in the diary room but Trish was out here using slurs.’

Another penned: ‘If only Yinrun knew about Trish’s tweets, she might not feel quite so upset.’

Trish broke her silence after the scandal on Sunday morning, posting an apology statement to her social media feed. 

The ex housemate said: ‘I’m aware that some very concerning old tweets of mine have re-surfaced, and I would like to sincerely apologise for the harmful stereotypes I perpetuated and the pain I have caused to the marginalised communities and groups of people mentioned.

‘There are no excuses for the ignorance that I showed and I am deeply disappointed, embarrassed and ashamed that I once made such comments. I have come a very long way since by educating myself and being educated by others on the impact and harm those views cause.’

The comments were especially impactful to viewers as Trish accused the other housemates of micro-aggressions during her time in the house.  

She added in the statement: ‘It is part of the reason why I am so passionate about standing up for others and holding myself to a high standard of responsibility and accountability for my actions.

‘I appreciate the support you’ve all given me on the show and I understand you feel disappointed. I know apologies can seem convenient but I mean it from the bottom of my heart: I am truly sorry. I hope it is possible for you to offer me grace and believe people can change.

‘I am committed to being the person I am now, the person you have known my as – someone who speaks up, stands for what they believe in and always open to growth and accountability.’ 

The posts from 2012 were only discovered following Trish’s exit as during their time in the house all contestants set their social media profiles to private. 

Since leaving, Trish has been active on social media, meaning the tweets were uncovered by fans. 

She wrote following her exit: ‘Going on big brother was actually one of the best decisions I’ve made. That experience has taught me soooo much.’

Her original Twitter account has since been deleted – although the statement has now popped up under another username as has been posted to her Instagram profile. 

After the tweets were uncovered, one Big Brother viewer wrote: ‘I’ve just seen the Trish tweets that have come to light. We all rooted for her…’

Another said: ‘That was a rollercoaster of a night, first trish got applause, then she got BRUTALLY evicted, then not even 5 hours later she got cancelled for racist, homophobic and ableist tweets.’ 

Regarding their decision to pull Trish from the show, ITV said: ‘This weekend, we have been made aware of concerning historical tweets.

‘We are currently looking into why they were not identified by the independent supplier we engage to review the digital footprint of potential Housemates as part of our pre-checks.’ 

Speaking on Late & Live following her eviction, she said: ‘I’m still a bit shocked. At the same time, there was a part of me that thought, this is my third nomination.’

Trish also spoke about some of the disagreements she had in the house, particularly with the group of Chanelle, Jenkin, Tom and Olivia.

Full statement: Trish has since apologised for her past tweets in a lengthy statement, saying she is ‘always open to growth and accountability’

She said: ‘I felt there was a lot of micro-aggression, judgement. It was quite constant. Before Chanelle, it was someone else.

Asked if she ever expected an apology from Chanelle after the disagreements they had, Trish said: ‘I started to understand that with Chanelle, Tom and Jenkin, they had lost so many people. 

‘When I spoke to Olivia, she was so sincere, there was a lot of reflection. With Chanelle it was like mmm, no. I’m not really feeling the sincerity.’
