Blake Lively almost gets a Paul Hollywood handshake in advert skit

Unlikely friends! Blake Lively almost gets a Paul Hollywood handshake as he tries her new alcoholic drink Betty Booze in a showstopping advertising skit

Blake Lively and Paul Hollywood made quite the unlikely team as they both appeared in an amusing advert for her new alcoholic drinks brand Betty Booze.

The actress, 36, roped in the Great British Bake Off judge, 57, to be the face of her high-end bourbon and tequila cocktails after the pair became unlikely friends.

And Blake took to Instagram on Friday – which was also her birthday – to share the latest advert for her brand Betty Booze featuring none other than celebrity chef Paul.

Blake, the wife of Ryan Reynolds, joked that she had ‘finally made it in Hollywood’ as she showed herself to be an avid Great British Bake Off fan with the skit.

The video kicked off with Blake arriving at Paul’s house carrying boxes of her cocktail cans, desperate to get the Bake Off judges approval on her product.

A surprised Paul opened the door and uncertainly said: ‘Hello Blake! Nice to see you again… at my home.’

To which Blake replied: ‘Don’t mention it. Here we go, Betty Booze, which I just launched using all of my own recipes, and I would love your professional opinion, if you don’t mind.’

Cracking open one of the drinks as Blake put more boxes in his fridge in the kitchen, Paul referenced the fact that Blake doesn’t drink but has created cocktail cans as he asked: ‘I thought you don’t drink alcohol.’

To which Blake jokingly replied: ‘Oh I don’t drink alcohol, I eat it. Bourbon and whipped cream, sherry vinaigrette. Really hard pressed to find anything I cook without alcohol. Do you like it?’

Putting on his serious judging face, Paul mimicked his own Bake Off judging tactics as he declared: ‘I really like it, it is absolutely beautiful, really good. The tang, the balance with the ginger, it’s spot on.’

A thrilled Blake asked: ‘Really?’, to which Paul replied: ‘Yeah.’

An amusing moment then saw Blake’s face light up as Paul leant towards her with his hand outstretched, as she thought she would get a rare Paul Hollywood handshake.

But as she moved her hand out to take Paul’s, he simply reached behind her to grab another drink, saying: ‘It’s so easy, to grab and go!’

The amusing skit came to an end with a red-faced Blake left awkwardly scratching her head at her faux pas, as she missed out on his highest level of praise.

The clip ended with Blake saying: ‘Try new Betty Booze, or I’ll come over and make you try them.’

The advert was released on Blake’s 36th birthday, with the Gossip Girl star excitedly taking to Instagram to share it with her 41.3million followers.

She captioned the post: ‘Finally made it in Hollywood. @bettybooze @paul.hollywood happy birthday to me.’

The new advert comes weeks after it was revealed that Blake had signed up Paul to be the face of her new alcohol brand Betty Booze.

Blake and her husband Ryan’s great British takeover is set to continue as Paul will appear in a string of adverts for Blake’s high-end range of ready to drink cocktails.

It is understood that the material will be used not just in the UK but also in the US, where the brand will be sold too.

Paul recently became friends with Blake and Ryan – who owns AFC Wrexham football club, and the American couple recently visited the Bake Off set with him.

The couple appeared thrilled as they posed for photographs with Paul and his fellow judge Prue Leith at the Bake Off tent at Welford Park, Berkshire.

Paul posted a photo of himself alongside Ms Lively, alongside the caption: ‘Sorry Prue, Blake (@blakelively) has taken your seat… welcome to cake corner Blake.’

A source close to Blake, who shot to fame in US teen drama Gossip Girl in 2007, said: ‘Paul is quintessentially British, and Blake and Ryan are immersing themselves in all things to do with the UK.

‘They think that Paul is great and with his big following Blake thinks that he will sell a lot of her product. It’s all very random but she wanted a Brit on board so she turned to Paul.

‘They have all become really good friends and Paul is looking forward to going to watch Wrexham play next season.’

In June, Blake announced that she was launching an alcoholic ready-to-drink range, which is an extension of her Betty Buzz mixer brand, calling it Betty Booze.

Within the range is a sparkling tequila with oak smoked lemonade, with butter, a sparkling bourbon with apple ginger sour cherry, and sparkling tequila with lime shiso.

They are 4.5 per cent proof and made with sparkling water, juice and spirits and without any artificial colours or sweeteners.

Sharing her news on Instagram Blake wrote: ‘Drinking isn’t my thing. But for f*** sake, flavour is. Homemade recipes. Real fruit. Real ingredients. Quality booze. No c***. Also a real time saver. Which is why I really did it.’

However, the star has been the victim of some backlash as she confessed she doesn’t drink alcohol yet is profiting from selling the booze.

In 2018, Blake claimed to be ‘an amazing mixologist’ despite not drinking and told PEOPLE that she does not ‘like the effects of alcohol’.

‘I found that sometimes not drinking, the thing that was interesting was that it was a little alienating, because you don’t feel—and maybe it’s just in your own head—but you just don’t really feel a part of it,’ she said.

The logo of mother-of-four Blake’s non-alcoholic mixer brand Betty Buzz – which she launched in 2021 – appears on AFC Wrexham’s training kit.

Blake appears to be following in her husband’s footsteps as Ryan, 46, fronts Aviation Gin, which was sold by him to Diageo for a deal up to £466m.

He has immersed himself in the British culture since buying the Welsh football club in 2021 and has been seen downing shots in traditional English pubs, while he is also currently filming Deadpool 3 in London.

Earlier this year, it was also reported that Ryan – who is said to be worth £120million – bagged himself a £1.5million home as he commits to Wales.

A source told The Sun: ‘The most famous person from Marford is Tim Vincent from Blue Peter, so a Hollywood star is a step up!’

The Deadpool star is believed to have splashed out on a four-bedroom home where he will be joined by wife Blake, and their children James, eight, Inez, six, and Betty, three, as well as their fourth baby, born earlier this year.
