Camilla celebrates 160 years of Battersea dog and cats home with Amanda Holden

The Duchess of Cornwall enjoyed a day of booping the noses of the cutest puppies around as she celebrated 160 years of the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Founded in 1860, the charity has served as an animal rescue centre for dogs and cats, looking after 240 dogs and 145 cats on average across all three of its centres at any one time.

As part of the celebrations, Camilla, 74, welcomed a whole host of furry friends and animal-loving celebrities to the Walled Garden at Clarence House on Thursday 14 July.

Among those to attend were Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, comedian Paul O'Grady and best-selling author Jacqueline Wilson.

The Duchess attended the event wearing a navy blue and white floral gown with her trademark platinum blonde hairstyle.

Amanda, 51, wore a stunning white dress, which had a striking lemon pattern running throughout the design. She teamed her look with a white handbag and matching yellow heels.

It appeared as though she was having the best day of her life as she formed a close bond to one Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy, and even shared a photo of it on her Instagram.

She wrote: "Lady and The tramp! !…You work it out [laughing face] @battersea [blue heart]"

The radio host also posted a selfie of herself and Paul, 67, and wrote: "@paulogrady @realpogdogs honoured to be part of a special afternoon #clarencehouse."

Paul wore a navy blue suit, a blue stripy shirt and a dark navy tie. He teamed his outfit with a pair of dark sunglasses as they enjoyed the weather.

Taking to her story, Amanda, shared a snap of her and celebrity liaison manager for Battersea, Jane Warden and the same puppy she had previously bonded to with the caption: "I'm in love @battersea"

She later joked that her and Paul would be starting their own crime series after posing in their sunglasses. The 51 year old penned: "New detective series imminent [laughing face].

Speaking at the event, Peter Laurie, chief executive of Battersea, said: "We are extremely fortunate to benefit from the kind and generous support of our Royal Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.

"Her Royal Highness has a true passion for our cause and has taken a real interest in our work for many years, and for that we are most grateful.

"Since our founder, Mary Tealby, established Battersea in 1860 we’ve helped more than three million dogs and cats and our support for animals now stretches far beyond our three rescue centres as we strive to help more dogs and cats wherever they are.

"Battersea would not be where we are today without the passion and determination of our staff, volunteers, and dedicated supporters so it is wonderful to gather at Clarence House to say thank you."
