Cardi B and Offset's daughter Kulture rings in 4th birthday with $50k in cash, plus more news

Cardi B and Offset’s 4-year-old shows off her giant stack of birthday cash: ‘Say 50!’

It was a happy birthday, indeed for Cardi B and Offset’s daughter, Kulture, who rang in her fourth trip around the sun with some family fun and a very large pile of cash. In a video posted to Offset’s Instagram Stories, the smiling toddler, whose mom reportedly gave her $100,000 worth of diamond jewelry for her first birthday, clutches the stack of bills while riding in what appears to be her dad’s private car, according to Entertainment Tonight. When Offset asks, “what is that?” Kulture happily replies, “a ticket!” The Migos star then corrects his little one: “A ticket is a million, girl. That’s 50. Say ’50!'” On Kulture’s actual big day, Sunday, July 10, she reportedly enjoyed a family trip to the interactive children’s museum Candytopia … not to be confused with the equally interactive Cash-o-topia her dad seems to have treated her to in the car.

Mandy Moore reacts to ‘This Is Us’ Emmys snub, husband’s nod

The 2022 Emmy nominations were bittersweet for Mandy Moore, who reacted on her Instagram Stories after “This Is Us” received just one nomination for its heartbreaking sixth and final season. That nod went to Mandy’s husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and composer Siddhartha Khosla, whose song “Day Of The Wedding / Song Title: The Forever Now,” got some love in the outstanding original music and lyrics category. “So unendingly proud of @siddkhoslamusic and @taylordawesgoldsmith for getting an Emmy nom for their song ‘Forever Now’ on our final season of #ThisIsUs,” Mandy shared after the nominees were announced on Tuesday, July 12. “Do I wish our show was recognized in what I think was its finest hour? Sure,” she continued. “And Dan Fogelman’s brilliant writing for 6 seasons (hello THE TRAIN)? @kenolin1’s impeccable direction? Our insanely, wildly talented cast and crew? Yah … But nothing can take away what our show meant to SO MANY (us included). That’s an incredible legacy to be a part of. I will be grateful forever. #thisisus.” Mandy, who performed the song on the “Day of the Wedding” episode, according to People, earned an Emmy nod of her own in 2019 for her performance as Rebecca Pearson. Over the course of its six season, “This Is Us” snagged more than 35 Emmy nods and four wins. The 74th Emmy Awards air live on NBC on Sept. 12.

Mickey Rourke dismisses Tom Cruise as ‘irrelevant’ despite billion-dollar ‘Top Gun: Maverick’

“Top Gun: Maverick” may have raked in more than $1 billion at the global box office, but Mickey Rourke is not impressed with his ’80s-era peer’s version of success. Asked how he feels about the massive blockbuster sequel to 1986’s “Top Gun,” which also starred Tom Cruise, Mickey told Piers Morgan this week on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” “That doesn’t mean s*** to me. The guy’s been doing the same f****** part for 35 years. I got no respect for that.” When pressed on whether he thinks Tom isn’t “a good actor,” Mickey remained dismissive. “I think he’s irrelevant, in my world,” he said. “I don’t care about money and power. I care about when I watch Al Pacino work and Chris Walken and [Robert] De Niro’s early work and Richard Harris’work and Ray Winstone’s work. That’s the kind of actor I want to be like. Monty Clift and [Marlon] Brando back in the day.” The 69-year-old “Barfly” star currently has one Oscar nod to Tom’s three; the stars each have one BAFTA under their belts. Mickey reportedly has 11 new projects coming up, including Roman Polanski’s rumored film, “Palace.”

Wanda Sykes weighs in on whether she’d host the Oscars again

After co-hosting what may have been the wildest Academy Awards in history, Wanda Sykes is done playing Oscars emcee. The comic stopped by “Live with Kelly and Ryan” on Tuesday, July 12, and when Ryan asked her point-blank if she’d consider returning to helm the annual awards show — where Will Smith stunned the world by marching onstage and slapping Chris Rock — Wanda wasted no time with her answer: “Oh, h*** no.” As Ryan, Kelly and audience members chuckled, Wanda clarified, “I shouldn’t say it like that,” according to People. “You know what, it was an amazing honor and I think it’s something that you want to do. You do it once … I don’t know if I would want to do it again. It’s a huge job, and it took a lot of people to clean me up.” The comic also commented on Will’s infamous slap — which was inspired by a joke Chris made about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head. “It was just like, what is happening? It was just shock,” Wanda told Kelly and Ryan when asked about the bizarre moment. “Couldn’t believe it. Shocked. And then it was like … ‘OK, so everybody’s going to just sit here?'” Will has since been banned from attending Academy Awards events for 10 years. After the slap, he took home the best actor Oscar for “King Richard.”

Johnny Depp’s lawyers slam Amber Heard’s motion for mistrial as ‘frivolous’

On Monday, July 11, Johnny Depp’s legal team fired back at Amber Heard’s attempt to have the verdict and $10.35 million judgment in their defamation trial dismissed. Central to Amber’s team’s motion was the fact that the juror who was summoned was not the person who reported to court and became juror 15. The two share the same last name and address, but the younger man served while the older person was summoned. Amber’s lawyers also argued the massive judgment awarded to Johnny, versus the $2 million in damages awarded to Amber, is “inconsistent and irreconcilable” with the jury’s decision the stars defamed each other. (The jury ruled in favor of Johnny on all three of his defamation claims against Amber, but sided with Amber on just one of her counterclaims against her ex-husband.) In their response, Johnny’s team called Amber’s claims “frivolous,” arguing that Virginia law mandates “a verdict is not to be set aside unless it is plainly wrong or without evidence to support it.” Legal experts interviewed by Yahoo Entertainment indicated that unless juror 15 is shown to have been hiding information relevant to the case, Johnny likely has the upper hand here, since Amber’s attorneys knew about the juror discrepancy from the beginning of the trial. They said ultimately, trial verdicts tend to stand.

Prince Harry to address UN on Nelson Mandela Day

Three years after Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan met with Nelson Mandela’s widow, Graca Machel, in Africa, the couple will make a special appearance at the U.N. General Assembly in New York City on July 18 in honor of Nelson Mandela Day. Harry’s expected to give a speech as part of the commemorative event, Fox Digital reported on Tuesday, July 12. “The South African Mission to the UN confirmed yesterday that yes, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be taking part,” a spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly told the outlet in a statement, adding that The Nelson Mandela Foundation specifically “selected the Duke and Duchess to participate.” It’s unclear what he’ll discuss, but Harry’s mom, the late Princess Diana, earned praise from Nelson Mandela in the ’90s, having worked throughout her life in the spotlight to highlight various humanitarian causes in Africa. “We saw her sitting on the beds of AIDS patients and shaking hands with them, and that changed perceptions dramatically with regards to AIDS,” Mandela said after meeting with Diana in 1997 in Cape Town, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Harry, meanwhile, has focused much of his humanitarian work on the Invictus Games and mental health issues. This week, the duke launched a short film about the value of “mental fitness,” or “proactive care for our mental health,” through his work with the mental health startup BetterUp.

‘Yellowstone’ star faces felony insurance fraud charges

“Yellowstone” actress Q’orianka Kilcher is facing two counts of felony insurance fraud after California officials alleged she collected more than $90,000 in disability benefits, TMZ reported this week. According to the California Department of Insurance, Q’orianka, 32, claimed she suffered an employment-related neck and shoulder injury in October 2018 while shooting “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.” An investigation by the CDOI determined the actress “sought treatment a few times that year,” according to TMZ. Authorities claim she stopped treatment then resumed in 2019, telling her doctor she couldn’t work because of pain related to the injury. The organization says she was actually working on “Yellowstone” between July and October 2019 — then began getting benefit payouts five days after her last day on the show. Q’orianka allegedly collected a total of $96,838 between 2019 and 2021. She reportedly turned herself in and was arraigned in May.
