The actress also discussed how she still remains fit and active as she prepares to celebrate her 87th birthday next month in January.

‘I’ve come to a place in my life where I can eat anything but I do work out. I try and do something at least three or four times a week.’

Cannon put on a youthful appearance while attending the Archie premiere in the Big Apple at The Paley Center for Media.

She opted for an all-black ensemble that comprised of fitted black pants as well as a long-sleeved, satin shirt that contained puffy shoulders.

Archie is based on Dyan’s 2011 memoir titled Dear Cary: My Life With Cary Grant. Both she and daughter Jennifer were also executive producers on the miniseries.

The premise follows, ‘the life of Hollywood’s greatest leading man, Archibald Alexander Leach – A.K.A. Cary Grant,’ per an official IMDB synopsis.

The show will not only depict Grant throughout his career in Hollywood – but also his difficult upbringing as a child.

Four actors were cast to portray Grant through the decades, including Jason Isaacs. Other stars who were cast in the project include Laura Aikman – playing Dyan – as well as Harriet Walter and Kara Tointon.

During a recent interview on New York Live, Cannon opened up about the series and her former relationship with the Hollywood icon.

Cary had a total of four marriages, but only welcomed a child with Dyan, which she explained, ‘I think it’s because he trusted me because he felt safe.’

She also opened up about Isaacs’ performance as Grant and the decision to ultimately cast him.

‘He, at times, doesn’t really resemble Cary physically, but he nails Cary. He got him tooth and nail. He really understood the man.’

As the Harry Potter alum prepared for the role, Dyan explained that both she and the actor would sit and have ‘great talks’ about Cary – whose real name is Archibald Leach.

While talking CBS Sunday Morning in an article published earlier this month, Jason stated, ‘I’m not Cary Grant. But he wasn’t Cary Grant, either, that’s the point.’

‘He invented Cary Grant,’ and added that it was, ‘a character to save him from himself, to build a career, and to try and exercise his demons.’

Dyan – who was also a part of the interview – was later asked, ‘Did Cary Grant play Cary Grant at home with you? Did he ever let that facade down?’

She replied, ‘Oh sure, yes, he did, of course. Real people have emotions. He had a very tough boyhood. He was abandoned, felt left alone, unloved, unneeded, unwanted, deprived…’

‘And of course, who we came to know as Cary was this magnificent, gorgeous, leading man – a personality that never stopped. He was so graceful! And what a gorgeous body. And he never exercised – which really used to really tick me off!’

Cannon’s memoir jumped to the New York Times bestseller list and dives into their relationship as well as details of Grant’s own upbringing.

The late actor’s childhood saw a young Archie being abandoned by his father – who told Cary that his mother had passed away when he was only 10-years-old.

However, 20 years later, he discovered that his mother had been placed in a mental institution.

Within Dyan’s marriage to Grant, the actress also detailed his controlling behavior and in a separate occurrence, recalled him forcing her to take LSD.
