Catherine Zeta Jones visits Buckingham Palace with family

Catherine Zeta-Jones has given fans an unseen insight into her time at Buckingham Palace when she was awarded a CBE back in 2011.

The actress was presented with the honour by King Charles (Prince at the time) for services to the film industry and charity.

Alongside her for support was long-term husband and actor Michael Douglas, 78, and their two children: Carys and Dylan.

Taking to Instagram last night, the 53-year-old actress reflected on her time with royalty and shared unearthed footage from Buckingham Palace.

The video shows the couple’s daughter leading the way into the hall followed by Dylan and a very observant Michael, who admired the paintings on the wall as he made his way in.

“The day I took my family to Buckingham Palace, they seem very much at home, yet look like they’re casing the joint.”

Carys, who is now 20, commented on the video, writing: “Why am I leading the show?” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.

Catherine previously revealed that her spouse had not long fought off tongue cancer before her special day, which left King Charles concerned.

She said at the time: “It means a lot to come home with my family and to be honoured in this way – very emotional, rather nervous I must say, and it was worth (it) to have Michael in good health to be able to enjoy it (with me).

“Obviously we talked about Michael. The last time I saw His Royal Highness, Michael had just got his treatment, so he was concerned, but he was very happy to hear… he’s well on the road to recovery.”

Two years on from the occasion, the actress spilled further details about her meeting with “saucy” Charles.

While speaking on the David Letterman show, she reflected on a picture of Charles placing the badge on her blazer.

She joked: “Check out his hands, I dunno. I love the royal family but he is being a little saucy.”

On a seperate occasion, Catherine who is a self-proclaimed royalist, also once enjoyed lunch with Queen Camilla.

The mother-of-two said of the moment: “In our family, we’ll dress up on royal occasions. My son will wear a top hat and tails and have scones.

“I had a wonderful lunch with Camilla and Lady Astor in New York years ago, before they were even married, and I loved her.

“What you see is what you get with Camilla,” she added to the Telegraph.

Formerly known as HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, she became the Queen Consort following King Charles’ coronation.
