CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil says his kids in Israel are ‘safe’
CBS Mornings presenter Tony Dokoupil assured fans that his children are safe while also damning the conflict in Israel that was sparked over the weekend following surprise attacks by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
While covering the tragic update on Monday morning, the 42-year-old journalist revealed his ex-wife and two children live in Israel and noted that he has confirmed they are safe.
Dubbing it a “roller coaster weekend” as hundreds were killed in the large-scale attacks, the journalist candidly admitted that he couldn’t approach this story solely as a reporter and not as a father when “somebody is firing rockets in the direction of your children”.
The CBS star added while co-hosting the show: “You’re going to feel a thing or two. The rockets are just step one. I mean, that’s the beginning of it.
“I’ve been sad and angry and disgusted to see the news that unfolded in the 48 hours since.
“We’re talking about the direct, close-range murder of more than 700 civilians in their cars, in their homes, at a festival. And then the kidnappings, and then the hostage-taking, and then the evidence of rape.
“I think there’s enough moral clarity in the world to say that this is wrong, it’s terrorism, and if it’s being done in your name, speak up, speak up.”
Tony highlighted that the conflict has now entered its third generation of people living “through was and terror and trauma” as he questioned: “What’s the solution here? What now?”

Little is known about Tony’s ex-wife or his children as the news presenter has managed to keep his family out of the public eye.
Some outlets claim the reporter’s ex works as a Human Rights activist in Tel Aviv and that she welcomed a daughter and a son named Tony Jr before parting ways with the CBS star in 2013.
Tony is currently married to MSNBC anchor Katy Tur and the pair have also welcomed two children together, four-year-old Theodore and two-year-old Eloise.
