Charles Spencer slams new claims about Princess Diana made by Donald Trump

Princess Diana's brotherCharles Spencer has blastedDonald Trump for claims he made about the lateroyal.

The former US President has claimed his new book Letters to Trump will feature missives from Diana, the lateQueen Elizabeth II, Russian president Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un – among others.

In a recent interview to promote the book, Mr Trump said ‘everyone of them kissed my a**’.

Diana’s brother Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, took to Twitter on Wednesday night to hit back at the claims.

He wrote: “Surprised to hear that Donald Trump is apparently claiming that my late sister Diana wanted to “kiss his a***”, since the one time she mentioned him to me – when he was using her good name to sell some real estate in New York – she clearly viewed him as worse than an anal fissure.”

Charles Spencer has been a tireless defender of his sister’s legacy since her death from injuries sustained in a car crash in Paris in 1997 – including two years ago when he held the BBC to account for the way disgraced journalistMartin Bashir deceitfully obtained his infamous interview with the late Princess of Wales.

Charlesdemanded the police take action over the forgeries allegedly used by Bashir to convince Diana to take part in the sit-down for Panorama.

The Earl claims he was shown the fake bank statement by Bashir in 1995, and as a direct result introduced the journalist to his sister.

Although the Dyson Report of the inquiry into thetactics used to secure the famous interview showed that Bashir had seriously breached BBC rules, Earl Spencer toldGood Morning Britain he had tried to take things a step further by going to the police.

He said: "I have referred it to the police. The police view, I don't understand it as a layman – if you use forged documents for your own financial benefit, if I did that at the bank I'd be in prison straight away.

"The police view seems to be that I haven't suffered financially, well that was never my issue. Maybe Diana would have given an interview to one of the big American networks."

Earlier this week, it emerged Princess Diana once made aheartbreaking confession toPaula Yates during a chance encounter, according to a friend of theTV star.

The late Princess of Wales told Paula she was happy when the former Big Breakfast presenter appeared on tabloid front pages because it meant she "got the day off."

The revelation came in the first instalment of a two-part Channel 4 documentary called Paula – in which friends and collaborators reflected on the TV stars rise to fame before her tragic death from a heroin overdose in 2000.

Paula’s love life was in particular tabloid fodder – as she was first married to The Boomtown Rats singerBob Geldof before embarking on a love affair withINXS frontman Michael Hutchence, who took his own life in Sydney in 1997.
