Cheryl Burke Reveals What She's Looking For After 'Stagnant' Relationship With Ex Matthew Lawrence!

Cheryl Burke isn’t rushing into another relationship — very much unlike her ex-husband Matthew Lawrence!

On Sunday night while on the red carpet for the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscars viewing party, the former Dancing with the Stars pro opened up about her thoughts on dating again just over a year after she and the Boy Meets World alum broke up. As Perezcious readers know, the couple split last February and finalized their divorce in September, just three years after getting married.

It was a pretty rocky split, especially since Cheryl seemed to put Matthew on blast for possibly cheating! After the divorce was finalized, the actor quickly confirmed his romance with TLC’s Chilli. Meanwhile, the Diving Deep host hasn’t been so quick to find love again, though she isn’t giving up!

Despite the bitter end to her last relationship, Cheryl hasn’t closed off her heart completely, but she’s not exactly eager to find someone new either, she told E! News:

“Yes if the right guy comes along so be it but I am not searching. I’m not on a dating app, let’s put it that way.”

These days, she’s more focused on redefining what she’s looking for in her next partner, she explained:

“As I’ve changed, the characteristics of somebody I’d be interested in has changed. It’s about somebody who wants to grow and evolve because without it, life can be very stagnant and I’m not about to live that again.”

Oof. Sounds like she’s throwing a little shade Matthew’s way! “Stagnant” isn’t exactly the way anyone wants their partner to describe their relationship! Interestingly, this latest update from the performer comes one month after she told People she was getting some help in the love department, she dished:

“I refuse to use dating apps. And PattiMillionaire MatchmakerStanger, she’s working on it, but it’s not easy and I’m not in a rush.”

Okay, girl! Find yourself a rich new hubby! LOLz!

While she’s open to a new romance (if it comes waltzing into her life when least expected), the dancer would rather spend this pivotal time working on herself. She told the mag:

“I think I definitely have a lot of growing and evolving to do, and now … I have the time to really do that without the anxiety of a timeline. It couldn’t have happened at a better time, because I’m ready for it now.”

The 38-year-old would even be happy to be single for another year or two, she explained:

“I mean, I deserve it. I’ve always put everyone in front of me, so this is the first time I’m actually being selfish, but in a good way.”

It’s so important to reconnect with yourself after a big breakup! Not to mention this isn’t the only change in her life. Cheryl’s also adjusting to her DWTS exit (she said goodbye last fall after 26 seasons). Luckily, it sounds like everything has happened just the way it was meant to, she exclaimed:

“I feel at peace, at ease and I’m just excited. I feel like I’ve been a reborn human being here on this planet because it’s so many changes, right? My career, my personal life. But I still have my dog.”

Yes, she’s seemingly talking about the dog she and Matthew were fighting in court over! No wonder she’s so happy! It sounds like things are truly looking up for the star, and not even the news that her ex-husband is ALREADY “trying” to have babies with Chilli could bring her down! Reactions, Perezcious readers?
