Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap, was scarcely recognisable this morning as she showed off her three stone weight loss.
The pounds dropped off the 60-year-old after she opted to give up alcohol altogether, having come to realise that pub culture is her “idea of hell”.
The star flaunted her new look today in a rust-coloured silk blouse and chic glasses, as well as a new super-short haircut which defined and accentuated her slimmed down jawline.
She was memorable not just for her third return to the Loose Women panel, but for the “alpha female” row she engaged in with fellow actress Denise Welch.
The pair admitted that they’d known each a long time, while Sue joked that she was “stuck with” her co-star, who also once had a role on Coronation Street, playing Natalie Barnes.

Sue had rejoined the soap as Eileen in 2000 following a brief stint in Weatherfield back in the early 1990s, while Denise had spent three years on the cobbles between 1997 and 2000.
Today, the pair clashed on their opposing views about the royals as the hot topic of Omid Scobie’s new book arose – and some Twitter (X) fans insisted they’d been exchanging unfriendly glances with one another even before that.
During one memorable moment, Sue declared she’d taken herself “out of the props cupboard”, vowing: “I am here to stay whether you like it or not.”
Meanwhile, she also recently addressed her image overhaul while chatting to Kaye Adams over the summer for her How To Be 60 podcast.

Her latest look follows on from further weight loss the previous year, when she endured a gruelling stint in the jungle in Australia.
Discussing why she took the plunge to transform herself, Sue revealed: “‘In the pandemic we all over-did things. I spent a lot of it drinking lots of lovely red wine and I put on a lot of weight doing it.
“Then I did dry January and I thought. ‘I wonder what life would be like if I stopped completely?'”
One thing Sue certainly won’t miss after giving up alcohol is going to the pub, as – in stark contrast to her husband Brian Owen – she dislikes it there.
Fans might have thought otherwise when they saw her merrily socialising in the Rovers on Corrie, but she has since admitted that, in that aspect, she couldn’t be more different from her on-screen persona.
“[Pub culture] was my idea of hell when I drank and especially now that I don’t drink!” she exclaimed.
Sue attributes her weight loss solely to her tee-total status and healthy lifestyle, and last year was forced to declare one weight loss company’s nonconsensual use of her image a “scam”.
Taking to Instagram, she told her 148,000 followers: “There is obviously some scam going around saying that I lost weight using keto gummies… Well, it’s c**p. It’s a scam, and if you’ve been taken in by it, I am so, so sorry.”
The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 star added: “I stopped drinking and I went in the jungle. Yes, I have lost weight this year – but not from any diet!”
