Anita Rani, 45, spoke about how she had been inspired to start her own venture following her work on brand new Channel 4 show, Aldi’s Next Big Thing. The Countryfile star admitted that the programme, which sees 36 suppliers visit Aldi HQ to showcase their products, made her want to start her own brand.
The six part series, which is hosted by Anita and Britain’s Best Home Cook’s Christ Bavin, takes viewers behind the scenes at one of Britain’s biggest supermarkets.
During the show, budding entrepreneurs will be seen competing within different categories, with the winning products appearing as a Specialbuy in Aldi stores nationwide.
Anita was asked if seeing small brands pitch their ideas to the huge supermarket made her want to start her own business, and she confirmed that it did.
“I’m a natural entrepreneur, I’m coming up with an idea everyday,” Anita revealed. “All I can say is, watch this space!”

However, the former Strictly star went on to admit that she might have too much on her plate to deal with a new business in the immediate future.
“The problem is, I’m ideas rich and time poor, that’s my issue,” she explained.
“I’ve just got so much stuff going on all the time. But oh my god yeah, I mean, I grew up with entrepreneurs.
“My dad had a manufacturing business, he’s always coming up with ideas. We did stuff like markets as a kid, so this is completely my vibe.”
“I would love to do a food store, absolutely. I love a foodie market,” Anita confirmed.
The presenter, who has also appeared on programmes like The One Show and Woman’s Hour, went on to describe why she was so excited to be a part of the show.
“Aldi’s Next Big Thing is a brilliant new format for Channel 4,” she gushed.
Anita went on to say that she “jumped at the chance” to work on the show because it was “proper, heartwarming, life-changing telly”.

She also noted that the small to medium brands featured on the series would “never get the opportunity” normally to pitch to such a big brand.
Praising the broadcaster who had greenlit the show, Anita added: “I used to absolutely love watching Channel 4 growing up. Absolutely loved it.”
The first episode of Aldi’s Next Big Thing aired last week and saw the first lucky winners get stocked on the supermarket’s shelves.
Anita previously spoke to Express.co.uk about some of the more unusual products she had to try during the show, including insects.
“There are quite a few products that will take people by surprise,” she said.
“Some really interesting things, like in episode one we have some really cool dudes who are pitching bugs as protein.
“These are all legit companies selling their products which they are passionate about, so just tasting some of the products, we got to eat some really good food.
“People’s passion is what this is all about, people who love food and small producers who want to do something and make a difference. That is the magic stuff.”
Aldi’s Next Big Thing airs on Channel 4, every Thursday at 8pm until 24th November.
