Of their chats, the actress said the Queen was just like speaking to a next door neighbour, which may come as a surprise for some.

“She’s inspirational, she’s terribly easy to talk to and terribly interested.

“It’s the sort of conversation you could have with your next door neighbour,” she added to Saga Magazine.

The Dynasty star has met the Queen on many occasions, most recently at a RADA reception held at Buckingham Palace in 2014.

A picture from the event shows the pair having a discussion as they each held onto a beverage.

The Queen’s death was announced on Thursday evening after doctors said she was under medical supervision.

Speaking on Piers Morgan: Uncensored this week, Joan told the host she “couldn’t stop crying” after hearing the news.

The 89-year-old went on to say: “Even though you expect it, and obviously we’ve been thinking about it, you really think, ‘She’s iconic – she’s never going to go. She’s always going to be there for us’.”

Joan added: “She’s part of my whole life. I mean, I don’t remember not being around when she was around.”

The actress was awarded her Damehood by the Queen back in 2015 for her services to charity.

Reflecting on the moment, Joan said the monarch told her she “deserved” it.
