Nearly one year after making the offensive comments during his set in Miami, the ‘Ball If I Want To’ spitter brags about his ability to maintain his success in his career.
AceShowbiz –DaBaby believes he stays “on top” in the hip-hop industry. Despite having to go through the ordeal of being canceled due to his homophobic remarks back in 2022, the “Ball If I Want To” rapper bragged that he maintains success in his music career.
The 31-year-old opened up about his career post-being canceled when he made an appearance on “The Bootleg Kev Podcast”. Speaking to host Bootleg Kev in the Monday, June 26 episode of the podcast, he gushed, “We’re gonna stay on top where we belong.”
DaBaby was responding to Kev who earlier stated, “I’ve been riding with you for a long time, and I’m just super happy that you got through this weird cancel cloud. You have officially defeated cancel culture.” In response, the “Rockstar” hitmaker simply agreed, “For sure.”
Elsewhere in the interview, DaBaby talked about Boosie Badazz, who was formerly known as Lil Boosie. He first received a question from Kev, “I know you got a great relationship with Boosie. Speaking of guys who can’t be canceled, have you spoke with him since he got out?”
In return, the “Red Light Green Light” rapper admitted that they have not been in contact. “I haven’t, I haven’t. I ain’t had a chance to speak with him yet. I think he is out here though,” he stated. “Okay I’m gonna bump into him.”
DaBaby’s podcast interview came hot on the heels of his success in making a return to Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Shake Sumn”. The song itself is part of his “Call Da Fireman” album, which was released in May. It reached number 69 on the music chart and ranked as one of the most popular songs in the U.S. for several weeks.
As for his 2022 cancellation, DaBaby landed in hot water after he made homophobic remarks while performing at Rolling Loud Miami on July 25. During his set, he bluntly told concertgoers, “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases, then put your cell phone lighter up. Ladies, if your p***y smell like water, put your cell phone lighter up. Fellas, if you aint sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cell phone lighter up.”
