Distressed Love Island star thanks fans after having to rush home to family situation

Former Love Island star Joseph Garratt has shared that he recently had a family emergency, forcing him to rush back home from London.

While he has not gone into detail about what this situation was exactly, Joe, 26, has thanked those who stopped to check on him during his journey.

Sharing a photo of a field to his Instagram Stories, Joe added the text: "I just wanted to say a huge thank you to anyone who stopped to check if I was alright on Tuesday.

"I was rushing back home from London because of a family situation and multiple people asked if I was okay as I clearly looked distressed.

"Everything's okay now by the way but yeah, thank you so much. Some really amazing people out there [red heart emoji]."

Joe recently teased a potential return to the Love Island villa, when he posted a snap to his Instagram Stories, to which he added the text: "Some very exciting news coming tomorrow… and yes, it may involve a certain island" and followed it with a trio of emoji, which featured eyes, a heart and, tellingly, an island.

Joe appeared in the 2019 edition of the popular reality show, alongside Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury, Maura Higgins, and Amy Hart.

During his original time in the villa, Joe coupled up with Lucie Donlan. His fellow islanders then voted for the least compatible couples with Joe ultimately being dumped from the island following a public vote.

Lucie opted to stay in the villa rather than leaving with Joe, and went to couple up with George Tasker. They then lasted until the show's final week, being axed on day 36.

Since his Love Island stint Joe has appeared on TOWIE, as he was briefly linked to Frankie Sims.

He also previously dated model Desiree before calling it quits six months later.

A source told The Sun at the time: "Over lockdown Joe went to America to be with Desiree and was there a few months and then went Dubai together again for a couple of months.

"But Joe had to return back to UK for work and Desiree to America for work and just being a long distance relationship wasn't going to work."
