Well, Donald Trump has released his response to finally being indicted — and it’s as Trumpy as we’ve seen in a long time.
The former POTUS went full conspiracy theory in his official statement, railing against the evil Democrats and once again amplifying some antisemitic propaganda blaming Jewish billionaire George Soros for funding everything. But of course, it’s ultimately all Joe Biden‘s direct orders. Sigh.
Anyway, dive in (below):
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history. From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats – the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country – have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement. You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia; the Mueller Hoax; Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine; Impeachment Hoax 1; Impeachment Hoax 2; the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid; and now this.”
Can we just rewind past all the tin-foil hat nonsense and point out that he literally mentions his “golden escalator” in the same sentence as he’s boasting he’s the champion of “the hard-working”? Sorry, that’s just hilarious. Moving on with the B.S., he said:
“The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.”
Election interference?? The case has been going since well before the 2020 election! Michael Cohen was convicted and sentenced for his role in these crimes in 2018! If Trump had won in 2020, he wouldn’t even be able to run in 2024!
And of course, there are those insiders who claimed he was only running to avoid potentially going to prison — their takes certainly look a lot more plausible now…
Trump continued:
“Never before in our Nation’s history has this been done. The Democrats have cheated countless times over the decades, including spying on my campaign, but weaponizing our justice system to punish a political opponent, who just so happens to be a President of the United States and by far the leading Republican candidate for President, has never happened before. Ever.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, who was hand-picked and funded by George Soros, is a disgrace. Rather than stopping the unprecedented crime wave taking over New York City, he’s doing Joe Biden’s dirty work, ignoring the murders and burglaries and assaults he should be focused on. This is how Bragg spends his time!”
Trump finished with a fiery flourish one might expect from a preacher in a tent — one who has unprotected sex with porn stars, we guess:
“I believe this Witch-Hunt will backfire massively on Joe Biden. The American people realize exactly what the Radical Left Democrats are doing here. Everyone can see it. So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
We’re just going to state the obvious here. The government has bent over backwards not to indict Trump for crimes. The claims of everything being biased and unfair have worked. The whining has worked. For years. No one has dared actually charge Trump for the things regular people would certainly go to prison for, that his team members have gone to prison for — all out of fear of being seen as being politically biased.
It’s about time we all agree. No matter who it is, no one is above the law in this country! Whether it’s campaign finance fraud, inciting riots, spending way too much time with underage sex traffickers, we should ALL want EVERYONE in power in this country to be held accountable. For all of it. Anyone fighting that is being un-American. We don’t care if they were the president.
