Unless you’re living under a royal rock, you’ll know that the King’s Coronation is just around the corner.
After months of prep, King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s big day is finally here, which will see the pair be officially crowned in a service at Westminster Abbey.
The major event, which will take place on Saturday 6 May, will be followed by a procession back to Buckingham Palace, where the senior members of the royal family will make their way to the iconic balcony for waves and photos.
And with so many eyes and cameras on the royals (it’s estimated a whopping 300 million people will be tuning in worldwide), it’s no surprise that huge amounts of thought and planning are being put into the appearances of the family.
From Kate Middleton’s outfit being “very thought through” so she “won’t outshine Camilla,” to the Queen Consort breaking tradition and wearing the crown of Queen Mary, Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh has also been making sure she’ll look the part.
The 58 year old was spotted leaving a London hair salon following a long appointment, having appeared to have had a colour refresh.
While walking through Chelsea from the upscale Richard Ward salon, Sophie was seen sporting a casual look – wearing stylish tapered trousers, beige trainers, and a camel blazer, all while her fresh do bounced in the breeze.
The Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa is no stranger to royal clients though, as the award-winning salon is a frequent haunt of the Princess of Wales and future Queen, Kate Middleton, who is known for her classic BBBD (big bouncy blow dry) – a style very synonymous with many younger royals.
Nestled in the heart of Chelsea, making it one of London’s most central glamorous pampering hotspots, the website reads: “Award-winning Royal and celebrity hairdresser Richard Ward is one of the industry’s leading lights, and one of the media’s most wanted hairdressers.
“Pioneer of the super salon concept, his eponymous, uber-cool award-winning Sloane Square salon plays host to a team of over 90 experts, looking after the hair and beauty needs of over 1,200 clients per week including a glittering celebrity clientele.”
So, it makes perfect sense that Sophie would pop in for a five hour appointment, especially with such an important engagement just around the corner.
While it’s still under wraps as to how Kate will style her hair for the big day, there’s no doubt the Princess will be attended to by the best of the best.
