Duncan James says teen daughter was more impressed by Gogglebox than Blue fame

Duncan James has admitted that his teenage daughter was more excited about him joining the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox than his latest reunion with boyband Blue.

The 44 year old is back with his bandmates Lee Ryan, 39, Simon Webbe, 43, and Antony Costa, 41, as they gear up to release their seventh studio album, Heart & Soul, and head out on their 20th anniversary tour.

But one person who was less than impressed with the boys getting back together was Duncan's 17 year old daughter Tianie.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Duncan said: "My daughter’s 17, so she’s a bit too young to remember Blue the first time around.

"When I told her I was going on Celebrity Gogglebox she found that more impressive. She was like, 'Oh my God, that’s amazing!'"

Discussing his new role on the hit Channel 4 show, where he stars alongside good friend Denise Van Outen, Duncan continued: "It’s great!

"I get to go to Denise’s house and sit on that famous sofa. Den and I get on so well, we have a good old catch-up.

"We have banter and you completely forget that the cameras are there, but that’s what makes the show so authentic."

However, Antony shared that his seven year old daughter Savannah is a fan of her dad's work.

He told us: "I caught my middle kid, Savannah, singing [new single] Haven’t Found You Yet and my 18-year-old [Emilie] came to a few of the new album recording sessions."

Duncan previously opened up to OK! about not being able to enjoy fame in Blue's heyday due to his fears of being outed as gay.

"I couldn't enjoy it the first time around because I was closeted and I was living in fear everyday of being outed in a newspaper story," he said.

"I enjoyed the first year when it was fresh but when we became really famous we couldn't even go to the shops without being followed by paparazzi so that was horrible. Everywhere we went, people were trying to get something from us.

"There was a lot of shady s**t going on so I was really paranoid because I didn't want people to know I was gay, I was so scared. But this time around I'm able to be myself and I'm so happy to do this because every morning I don't wake up in fear."

Blue's new album, Heart & Soul, is released on 9 September. Tickets for their 20th anniversary tour are available at officialblue.com
