Eamonn Holmes, 62, took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning to share his health woes with his one million followers. The GB News presenter admitted he was suffering after he had spent the day reporting on the Queen’s state funeral for the channel.

He called on his fellow “chronic pain sufferers” and assured them that they are “not alone”.

In a poignant message, the presenter penned: “Hello all my #ChronicPain sufferers…I know it’s not much help but it does help a little I feel to know we are not alone.

“Therefore, from time to time I make these posts so some of you can share stories and just talk to someone who knows what you are going through.”

In the comments, one follower named Marese lamented: “Awake with pain too?” And Eamonn replied: “Yep. Afraid so. Awful day/night.”

In a separate tweet, Eamonn explained that he was struggling to sleep due to agonising pain in his left leg.

He said: “I’m seeking the Holy Grail of sleep. My left leg sciatic nerve is thinking differently though.”

Eamonn has been plagued with health issues for the last few years as he lives with a trapped sciatic nerve.

Earlier this year, he also suffered “excruciating pain” when he had to be rushed into emergency surgery with two prolapsed discs in his back.

Amid his health woes, Eamonn previously opened up about how his “emasculating” pain is affecting his marriage to Ruth Langsford.

He told The Sun in January: “It’s been a difficult year. For months now I haven’t been able to walk, sometimes at all, and it has really taken its toll on everyone around me too.

“I had to stop driving and sold my car back to the dealer too, which felt quite emasculating.

“I can’t bend down to pick things up so Ruth ends up having to wait on me, and I know my sons particularly are a bit embarrassed by the way I move around.”

Ruth later spoke out about Eamonn’s comments, saying that it made her “sad” that he felt he was a burden. However, she admitted that she does find his health battle tough at times.

Speaking on Loose Women, Ruth said: “He said in this interview, which actually made me feel a bit sad, he said, ‘I think my family are a bit fed up with me now’.

“I thought, well, I am and I’m not. Do you know what I mean? It’s human.

“You can’t help, but when you’re helping someone all the time and they’re very incapacitated it’s hard to be Florence Nightingale all the time.”

On Monday, Eamonn was alongside his GB News co-star Isabel Webster reporting on the Queen’s funeral.

Reflecting on the historic day, Eamonn admitted he was still feeling highly emotional a day after the service.

Discussing the events on Tuesday’s GB News, Eamonn said: “I’ve still got the black tie on. But you don’t have to anymore.

“I don’t have to, but I just feel I don’t want to let it go just yet.

“I’d begun to think I may not live long enough to see King Charles III.”
