EastEnders’ Amy Mitchell star Ellie Dadd glams up for her 18th birthday

EastEnders star Ellie Dadd, who plays Amy Mitchell on the BBC soap, got glammed up to celebrate her 18th birthday as the star looked worlds away from her character.

The actress normally wears colourful T-shirts, track-suits and jeans as teen Amy on the soap.

The character also styles her blonde locks into a plain straight style with a half-up ponytail and a centre parting.

But the stunning beauty pulled out all the stops to show her own style for her big birthday, as she posted a snap of her blowdried tresses and ultra glam makeup on Instagram.

Opting for full smokey eyeshadow and eyeliner, the teen star finished off her look with a slick of lipgloss and bronzed cheeks as she got ready for the big night out.

"Birthday girl," Ellie wrote alongside a white heart emoji and birthday cake over her selfie.

The star chose a white off-the-shoulder dress for the evening, as she smiled to the camera for her fans.

The former Silent Witness actress joined Albert Square as Jack Branning and the late Roxy Mitchell's daughter, and has played the troubled teen character since August 2022.

Amy has been played by five separate actresses since the character was born back in 2008, with Abbie Burke being the most recent before Ellie.

Abbie took over the role in 2014 and played Amy until June 2022.

A spokesperson for EastEnders clarified that the decision to recast Amy came as a result of a new direction for the character.

"It is not unusual in continuing drama to recast young actors as children take on more challenging adult storylines," they said at the time.

"We wish Abbie all the best for the future," the spokesperson added.

As Ellie celebrated her birthday her followers, fans gushed over the star and sent well-wishes for her special day.

One person wrote on a recent black and white snap of the actress pouting for the camera: "Gorgeous, happy birthday ellie."

"Since you appeared as Amy and took on the mental health storyline you are my idol and I literally worship you I idolise you Ellie," another fan posted.

A third said: "Happy birthday Ellie," alongside kiss and heart emojis."

While a fourth added: "You look gorgeous Ellie."
