EastEnders Freddie is like me – cheeky and craving sense of belonging says Strictlys Bobby Brazier

Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier said that his EastEnders character Freddie Slater is just like him as they are both “cheeky” and “crave a sense of belonging”.

Bobby, who is the eldest son of the late Big Brother star Jade Goody and TV personality Jeff Brazier, joined the BBC soap in 2022 and quickly became a fan favourite.

When Freddie first arrived on Albert Square, he was on the search for his real father who he thought was Billy Mitchell at the time. He was then informed that his real father was Graham Foster, who befriended and raped Little Mo, with the result of the attack being a pregnancy and Freddie was the baby.

In an interview with Grazia Magazine, Bobby said: “Freddie Slater is probably a slightly exaggerated version of Bobby Brazier in many ways.

“He craves a sense of belonging and unity between the people that he loves and are close to him. Slightly mischievous. I’d say he was cheeky”.

Not only is Bobby a fan favourite, but he also scooped up an a National Television Award for Rising Star just one year after his EastEnders debut.

He went on to give an emotional speech where he thanked EastEnders bosses for believing in him when he had "no experience", quipping: "I still don't have a clue what I'm doing, to be honest."

And he added: "But they've all been so supportive, and just lovely and merciful and everything that I needed throughout the whole time and even still."

The 20 year old was recently seen taking his professional dance partner to the EastEnders studios, exploring the set and taking fun pictures for fans.

Dianne Buswell, 34, showed fans on her Instagram how much fun they were having as they posed for photos outside the Queen Vic and inside Beale's Plaice fish shop last week.

She said: "The day that the Bobsta was paired with the Buzzer outside the Queen Vic and of course Beale's Plaice.

"Genuinely feel so lucky to be dancing with this lovely human and we're both very excited to show you our Charleston tomorrow night!!!" She then tagged in Bobby, Eastenders and Strictly.

Fans are now petitioning to see the Australian professional dancer in the BBC soap. One said: "Petition for @diannebusell to make a guest appearance on Eastenders!" to which the flame-haired star replied with two laughing emojis.
