The story of Ed Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn's newborn baby girl's conception has been leaked – and it offers some insight into the name they chose for her.
Shape Of You hitmaker Ed, 31, and his 30 year old other half, who are already parents to daughter Lyra, announced the happy news of their second child's arrival back in May and shared an adorable photograph of a pair of white baby socks on the floor.
“Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to now be a family of four," the dad-of-two gushed.
Several weeks later, it was revealed they named her Jupiter Seaborn Sheeran.
Now, a source has come forward to share how the loved-up couple came up with the name as they shared baby Jupiter's conception story to The Sun.
"Ed installed an observatory in the garden of their place in Suffolk and is really into star-gazing," they explained. “Around the same time Jupiter was conceived, the planet was visible from Earth and it was a really special time."
The source continued: “Ed and Cherry both thought it was apt when she fell pregnant that Jupiter should be her name. They love the name, both in terms of what it stands for and its uniqueness. Everyone thinks Jupiter works perfectly for her."
“Behind closed doors Cherry has been gushing over becoming a mum again. She and Ed really are a match made in heaven. Their family is beautiful," the source added.
The celestial themed name has roots in Latin and has widely been used by both boys and girls throughout the ages, with a steady rise in popularity over the past few years as people once again began to embrace historical names and mythological inspired ones to name their little ones.
The name itself means Father Zeus, or godfather, according to Nameberry – and has traditionally held a more masculine connotation, but that has since been knocked on its head, as many baby girls have claimed the title for their own and focused instead on its far less literal meaning.
The name is also thought to represent the “brave and bold”, something that resonates with both Ed and Cherry.
Ed and Cherry first met at secondary school, but didn't start dating until July 2015. They announced their engagement in 2018 and the following year they tied the knot.
The pair kept their nuptials a secret despite Ed's star status, with Cherry opting to mainly remain out of the limelight and rarely appearing by her husband's side in public.
