EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Prue Leith reveals Prince Philip's etiquette lesson

EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: ‘That’s the mat, not the napkin’ – the Royal lesson in etiquette a nervous Prue Leith received from Prince Philip

Donald Trump likes McDonald’s with lashings of Diet Coke, but his daughter Ivanka has a more sophisticated palette.

The long-legged 40-year-old was spotted leaving Oswald’s, a Mayfair private members’ club owned by Robin Birley, known for its fine dining and vintage wines.

She was accompanied by her businessman husband, Jared Kushner, 41.

Even though Oswald’s is a regular haunt of royalty, it’s still a step down from Ivanka’s last trip to London, when she and her father were entertained by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Some film stars swear by the motto, ‘live fast, die young’, but not Dame Judi Dench, who reveals she sacked her agent after a theme park trip.

‘We were out in Los Angeles and my agent said: “I’ve got to take you to Universal Studios”,’ the Oscar winner, 87, says on podcast Acting For Others Presents.

‘I told her I didn’t want anything that shoots me up into the air. So we were in little boats, and it was absolutely charming.

‘And then suddenly we dropped 80ft into a pool of water. I was so angry… I fired her at that minute. I said: “You are f***ing fired.”’

As the privately educated daughter of an industrialist and an actress, Dame Prue Leith might be expected to know her way round dining room etiquette.

But The Great British Bake Off judge was left flummoxed during a lunch with the late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace.

‘I found myself sitting between Prince Philip and an Olympic athlete,’ the founder of Leiths School of Food and Wine says.

‘I was a bit nervous, because there were so many bits of cutlery and all sorts of fancy stuff on the table that I had absolutely no idea what to do with.

‘Prince Philip told me: “That’s the mat, not the napkin.” ’

Happy families, Mick Jagger style!

Sir Mick Jagger’s girlfriend, Melanie Hamrick, was doubtless delighted when he invited her out for a fancy lunch in Paris.

The former ballerina, 35, may have been less thrilled when she learned that the Rolling Stones star, 79, had invited his ex, Jerry Hall, 66, along as well.

Nevertheless, they both smiled for the camera, as did model Georgia May Jagger, 30, who shared this snap.

Georgia is one of Sir Mick’s four children with Jerry, who recently divorced media magnate Rupert Murdoch, 91.

The singer also has a son, Deveraux, aged five, with Mel, as well as three other children with different women.

‘I’m close with the mothers,’ Jerry has said of her relationship with them. ‘It’s really important to me that there is not conflict in the family.’

Property show presenter Sarah Beeny has revealed she still wanted more children after having four sons, but her other half, Graham Swift, told her that would have to be with another man.

‘I kind of wanted to have more children but Graham said that I’d have to have them with my next husband,’ says Beeny, 50.

‘And I didn’t figure I’d find another husband with four kids, so I thought, “Oh, I’ll stick with you then.” I wanted to have six, really.’

Actress Fiona Shaw, who played a conniving MI6 boss in Killing Eve, made more than £1million as she cemented her status as one of the country’s most in-demand actresses.

Shaw, 64, who counts her economist partner Dr Sonali Deraniyagala as a fellow director of her business, Flycatcher Productions Ltd, saw assets rise from £243,000 to £1.32million, newly filed accounts reveal.

Why Hugh shuns Sally

Hugh Grant used to love salacious gossip, but clearly not if it’s about himself.

Sally Phillips, 52, who appeared in two Bridget Jones films, alongside Renee Zellweger, with the foppish 62-year-old, reveals: ‘Hugh Grant doesn’t talk to me, ’cause I got very drunk in Thailand and was very indiscreet, and then he became afraid of my giant mouth.’

Speaking on the Richard Herring Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, she adds: ‘I lost my flip-flops in the sea and I was sick in the guitar bar’s sand toilet, and now he doesn’t talk to me except on set… which is completely fair enough.’
